I'm writing a paper, and I need to put a footer in with the page numbers. I've already inserted the footer, and added the page numbers. However, I need the page numbers to start on page 2. How do I get Word to only make the page number visible on pages 2 and beyond? I need to get rid of the page number on page 1. How do I do that?

Pull down "Insert" and choose "Page Numbers." When the box opens, uncheck the box that says "Show number on first page." With it unchecked, it should start numbering on page 2. Hope this helps.
God Bless.

At the end of page one, click Insert, cl Break, cl Next Page.
---In col. 1, line 1 of Page 2, click View, cl Header/Footer
---click the "switch between header/footer button" to get to the footer.
---there should be nothing in the footer for Section 1
---you should be in section 2
---click the "page setup" button
---select "different first page" then o.k.
---type the footer in Section (page) 2
---(remove the footer from Section (page) 1 if there is one)
---tab to where you want the page number in Section 2
---click the "insert page number" button
---click the "format page number" button on the header toolbar
---near the bottom of the dialog box, click "start at number" - type 2, click o.k.

Go to - Insert>Page Numbers...
Then uncheck the - Show numbers on first page

So your page 1 wont have a page number.
Then click OK.

your done.
