Find an activity that you actually enjoy, so you don't have to "force" yourself. Maybe join a class (martial arts, yoga, etc)? Another good way to stick to your workout plan is to have a workout buddy. You can motivate each other with some good old positive peer pressure. You are much more likely to keep your schedule if you have a class you need to be at or a specific time you are supposed to meet your training partner. Try listening to some good music to pump you up, too! My last tip...set a reward system up for yourself (if you workout 3 days a week for a month you get to treat yourself to something you wouldn't normally do/buy, for example). Good luck!

Choosing a sport or an exercise that you like is important. It means you will do it. Liking it for a phase is good enough. You can always switch to some other sports.
I like walking, and I do it as an exercise by brisk walking. And it is wonderful, as I get to walk whereever I go, shopping, marketing, even on vacations.
Exercising is often not enough to lose weight. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein. I have lost 31lbs/14kg and have been maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year.
All the details in my blog.

If you're a procrastinator, just force yourself to exercise and pretty soon you'll have a good habit of keeping yourself healthy with exercise. It's soooo good for you! If you want in-home walking programs try Leslie Sansone. She has alot of variety and keeps it fun!

if you haven't become accustomed to working out alot then odds are you aren't going to make a commitment stick. Fortunately all you have to do is eat less and walk to close by places. Little changes first, then work on going running and such

Get a dog and take him for walks. You can get one at the pound for 20 bucks or so which pays to have him fixed. Much cheaper than a gym membership.

try and convince yourself that exercising is something you HAVE to do. it's not something you should do just because you have extra time or you're bored. if you are committed to losing weight, you must believe that exercising goes hand in hand with working, eating, or anything else you do in your daily life.
