The bible says that the root of all evil is MONEY. That it is easier for the camel to enter the 'eye of the needle' than for the rich to enter the kingdom.

But I also know of many christians who believe that if God likes them, they will be made RICH in this world. Otherwise, if they are poor, it means God is not watching over them. Is this true? That God gives you evil (money) when He loves you?

Some others believe that they should have the best of both worlds. Rich now and Rich after death. Of course this is an ideal case cos in the context of the bible, being rich now usually just means being poor after death.

So, as christians, should we strive to be rich now or rich later? Or is the faith non-existent and replaced by the fear of death and the greed of money that they call themselves christians only to deceive themselves and others that the kingdom of God awaits them while they take their time revelling amongst themselves on earth?

Where is faith?

The love of money is the Root of all evil. Money is not the root of evil. You still need money to survive.

There is nothing wrong to want to be rich, so that you can impact more for the lost. Isnt it great if you are rich and open orphanages in Malaysia?

I have been to one orphanage in Johor, and I am impressed how the church forked out the money to open one.

Neither, money can't be good or bad it is how we use it. Many who are rich over indulge in things that are bad for them, not only spiritually but mentally and physically. I think some people would destroy themselves if they were given a lot of money, others can deal and do deal with it the right way. So if one has a lot of money a lot is ask of him/her. They should give to good causes like the poor, their church, and things like that. They should not allow money to be used to buy women, big homes that they go to only once a year for a week and things like that. There are so many needy people that one with a lot of money has a duty to help the ones who have a hard time just putting food on the table and feeding their children or themselves. That's how I see it.

Jesus once told a rich man, "If you wish to be perfect, go and sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." (Matt. 19:21) He also says, "Be perfect as God in heaven is perfect." (Matt. 5:48) So, the formula for being perfect is right there and it's really simple--just be poor and homeless and follow Jesus. I don't think Jesus ever said that God would bless his followers with Earthly riches, only that they would have treasure IN HEAVEN if they obeyed him. The message he preached was that he would be returning soon from death and that worldly riches therefore wouldn't be necessary. All the Christians who say otherwise have got it wrong, if this message is to be taken seriously. Being rich isn't a sign of God's blessing, it is a sign of the Christian's focus on worldliness instead of on heavenly rewards.

Iam already rich. Not in material or money, but in God's love , and forgiveness and blessings upon my life. That is all the riches I desire. If I came into money, I would give the majority of it to family, my parish and to charity.

It isn't a bad thing to be rich, but it shouldn't be too important to us because material things won't matter in the end anyway. We should strive to be rich later.
