I'm 17 and I will be auditioning for The Juilliard School for music (I play violin), but I've been feeling less confident about my upcoming audition. So would I be able to audition for "Pre-Juilliard" (whatever that is) instead?

The reason why I'm nervous about my audition is because...it's not that I'm a bad violinist, but I haven't been playing for very long. (therefore I have much much more talent than skill through practice, and I've been told I'm good, but what about those kids who have been playing since 2 years old???)

Why not go to the source?

Pre-Juilliard must be a program for people whom the auditioning board thinks might be ready for the regular program after some training.

Just go for your audition for the regular program. Being nervous about it is normal - it's very competitive, but if not Juilliard, there are many other excellent music schools in the USA that you could consider.
