It's quite funny if you think about it:
Global Warming leads to rapid warming, which melts the ice, which floods the world. Then that excess water evaporates, and creates a large amount of clouds, which block the sun's heat/light which cools the Earth, eventually resulting in an Ice Age. So Global Warming ACTUALLY cools the Earth. The process literaly 'reverses' itself.
This cannot be stopped. Even if we destroy anything that 'so called' helps the Greenhouse Effect. Personally, I don't believe in that propaganda, this is part of the normal geological cycle. Global Warming doesn't occur because of us. The Earth warms then cools periodically. So enjoy the heat while it lasts.

First I would stop the problem from getting worse so for the first phase I would start replacing fossil fuels (which produce most of the global warming) with other power sources.
Step 0: Bring a carbon tax into force that requires payment for every gram of CO2 released into the atmosphere. Set it high enough at first for nuclear power to compete with fossil fuels and then start raising it as necessary to fund mitigation. I'd probably shift some R&D money around too.
Step 1: Replace all Fossil fuelled power plants with nuclear power plants.
Step 2: Electrify all train lines and replace Diesel trains with electric trains (I've already converted electricity to nuclear so there actually will be reduction in CO2 emissions)
Step 3: Convert shipping to use nuclear power.
Step 4 (most difficult): Replace oil as a transportation fuel for cars, trucks and planes.
Not sure what to replace it with, Hydrogen is a good candidate although synthetic hydrocarbons might be better.
Then phase 2 is reversal, there are several things we can try.
* Putting a big sun shade between the Earth and the Sun to reduce the isolation (expensive but effective and controllable).
* Remove CO2 from the atmosphere and sequester it underground (not sure what it'd cost). I wouldn't worry that much about the CO2 coming out because you'd put it in places that have held methane for millions of years without it leaking.
* Put extra aerosols into the atmosphere, say sulphur. Cheap but not very controllable, likely to cause droughts.

Plant trees, and encourage their planting. There is much help available if you want it.
Walk or ride a bicycle rather than ride a motor vehicle whenever you can.
Turn off things that use power when they're not needed.
Recycle Aluminum and other metals.
Ignore the taunts, threats and lies of the thugs and bullies who try to get you not to try.
Seek out others in the area where you live who think as you do. There is strength in numbers.
Give it some thought, but consider adopting a single issue, like a particular type of tree or crop, or cheaning up all the trash people throw in the rivers and streams. There are organizations for each.

Really, why would we want to?
History tells us periods of global warming lead to more and better food, more land for more people, more free time to study science and arts and learn and create beautiful things and better ways to live.
That is history, we can go back and see it. We also can see the effects of global cooling just about 300 years ago. Privations, crowding, disease, etc.
So why try to reverse what is natural, and leads to good? If you check, you will find those pushing to reverse it are the ones who are making huge money off of it and the reversal trials.
And are raping and pillaging the jungles and rain forests. And suppressing the underdeveloped nations terribly. Under guise of fighting the Ogre of Global Warming.
And check in Snopes, on the Net, on the comparison of GW Bush's home vs Al Gore's home. See who really is for the environment!!
And look at how those who protested the old computer programs and suppositions were inaccurate were suppressed and kicked out and denied publication, and now are proved right in that the computer programs and the selected data put into them to make things look terrible turned out to be wrong, and now they have to backtrack, but claim the NEW programs and data are correct...just sets the date out by a factor of 10X or so.
And how do we know these are right? The same ones who were wrong before say so, and brook no input from those who told them they were wrong before. Silence the other side and you can get away with anything!!
I, for one, would embrace the good that comes with global warming historically. And I would shut down all the graft and vice and exploitation of the underdeveloped countries that is right now going with the uncontrolled trying to stop Global Warming. A few are getting very rich off the rest of us.
But the 1950-1975 era showed us how to reverse Global Warming, along with nature back in the 1890's...the year without a summer, and other similar natural events.!
ALL we have to do is undo what the environmentalists did back in the 50's, etc...we need to inject more dust and sulfates into the atmosphere, and they will reflect the sun's heat back out and we WILL cool. The Environmentalists are really responsible for the recent accelerated warming.
We CAN control the warming, and cooling, with how much dust we let out. Easy and cheap.
We do though need to remember, we can also induce the fall back into the ice ages if we mess too much in areas we do not know really well! Those who blast global warming now were those who were certain then we were sliding into the ice age, remember?
But we do not need draconian changes in our society, loss of freedoms, and go to an Orwellian "1984" type of controlled society to "prevent" global warming.
If we do not want the freedoms and benefits of global warming, just set some folks to watch the climate and alter the amount of dusts we put into the atmosphere...simple and easy and cheap.
OK...that is how. Simple and cheap. Proven effective, by man and Nature. You like it?

Oh ye of little faith! Yes, we can reverse the effects of global warming. Yes, global warming/cooling is natural; so is death.
Easter Island used to be tropical with rivers; today it is mostly barren and grass covered. The Sahara used to be tropical with rivers and lakes; today...well, you know. So many of the earth's lakes are shrinking; so many rivers/streams are drying up and are intermittant at best. If you have ever driven in California, Nevada, Utah, etc., you can see the dry lakebeds in abundance.
How to reverse? Quit driving for silliness such as cruising, to see who can drive the most, whatever. Quit driving snowmobiles, go-carts, golf carts, ATV's and tractors on the highways/interstate just because you are bored. Hang clothes out to dry instead of using a dryer. Collect rain water. Collect gray water. Turn the thermostat down in the summer, up in winter. Turn lights off when not needed. Use LEDs or at least the CFLs. Build smaller houses. Don't waste! (paramount rule!) Grow more trees. Use native plants as much as possible; use buffalo grass in lieu of blue grass for a lawn.
Gosh, there are millions of things a person can do...

Most of global warming comes from the sun or other natural forces. The Human contribution to it is not as great as many say, and "intervention" could make it worse. Human activity can change climate, so we could change what we think might help, as to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, but if we don't know what we're doing then all we'll do is 'sow the wind and reap the whirlwind'....
The real subject should be; How do we adapt to increasing chaos in the weather?

That's wonderful that you are wanting to help! You can ride a bike to school, use as little as electric as possible, inform people about it, RECYCLE (right too-- no trash in the recycling) Don't order magazines if you don't need them, if you get bulk mail then contact the company and tell them to stop. Please go to: http://www.dogwalkeraz.com/survey.htm... and fill out our pollution/green survey. Then once you submit it,it will show you more ways you can help the world and you can also see what others say.
Take Care!

We can't. It is almost certain that things will get quite a bit hotter before they get cooler. This is what has always happened in the past, and I see no reason to believe it will not happen again. Might as well get ready for it.

Its an eventuality, gaurenteed.
