Do we have to short attention spans for international politics, which seem to come back and haunt us, everytime we try to get involved?

I was actually shocked as to how accurate his predictions were. Everything he said, happened! This only works to incriminate him though. He knew it was a bad decision, he knew there would be a power vacuum and insurgency. It just goes to show that he was more interested in his Haliburton stock.

Well, you have a couple of good questions here.

In respect to what changed, in short the hardliner speech makers became policymakers, and that's turned out rather catastrophically for most everyone concerned.

I used to think this video was basically liberal fringe ranting but then I started reading deeply on neoconservativism and found out that while it still is more than a little smug, its tragically accurate in many respects

Neoconservatism is just bad news all around.

Regarding your second question, I think Americans particularly would do much better if we really took the Fox News/CNN blinders off more frequently and honestly forced our political leaders to do what is in our interests.

Firstly this would require a commitment to education and rethinking many of our current national strategies.

Secondly it would require that our citizenry wake up from it's long post world war 2 slumber of self-satisfaction and realize the world is no longer bipolar or unipolar but multi-polar.

If you want a real head trip, listen to the OTHER McNamara (Robert Mc Namara the former Defense Secretary) , He did an interview/documentary called "Fog of War", about 6 months BEFORE 9/11, after that is truly where you just have to ask yourself how screwed up our politics are.

Let me see 9/11?
An Afghanistan based terrorist organization with a leader from one of the prominent Saudi family's with ties to GW Bush launched an attack with predominantly Saudi terrorists.
This attack was carried out by a group that Saddam Hussein Hated with a passion and did not finance.
Does that sum it up Dude?
Bush did promise Congress that Iraqi oil would pay for the cost of the war. I wonder who might be going to profit from that oil?
Any suggestions, people?

I don't know but why don't you tell us with short memories why US ports that were controlled by an European ally (UK) shouldn't be controlled by a Middle Eastern one (UAI..aka Dubai)? I somehow remember ALL of the Democrats screaming bloody murder about that deal. Are democrats racist against arabs? Or is there something that changed the very fabric of US society that has changed a few ideas of what is right or not? What could that have been?....hmmmmmm.... I know, it's because McDonald's swithched to a low fat veggie oil and made their fries taste bad, right? I mean it couldn't be an attack on US soil from fanatics partially funded by Middle Eastern regimes. No that is using "scare tactics" if I remember the phrase right.

Thanks Dude!

Since you mssed 9-11, I am sure you missed the part where we were fighting Iraq/Saddam every stinking day since the end of Desert Storm. Yes we were taking casualties and no one noticed or gave a darn, because it would make Bill Clinton look bad.

Ask your Lib buddies in the media how they missed that whole 12 years.

Haliburton is what changed his mind.

The tinkling of mega bucks in his pocket.
