The only way to unregister a copy of Windows so that you can use it on another computer, you have to call Microsoft. (The number is displayed during the Windows set up.) They can clear the registration for you. However once you have installed in on the new computer, it will no longer run on the old computer.

Getting it off the computer is easy, just format the drive. Oh, you have no Vista CD? Can't do much without that. And if you read the fine print in the EULA, you will find that the license is not transferable. Give it up and buy a copy of Vista for the other computer.

You can use any of various tools to format your hard drive but the best bet is to install a different operating system which will do that for you. Be sure to back up any files you want to keep because everything will be lost. If you don't have a legal copy of Windows XP lying aroud, Give Ubuntu linux a try. It's free.

use a different operating system boot disk and re-format the drive, most likely win xp, but if you are dual booting vista and xp, you may have to format both partitions and start fresh........
