I support same sex marriage because I believe that it is discriminatory of the government to protect certain unions between two people of opposite gender and not protect same-sex unions. Secondly to define civil marriage based on the religious definition of marriage is unconstitutional. The 1000+ rights, including hospital visitation rights are with held from same sex couples, I think that is unfair.
There is no valid argument against it any ways. To say they don't procreate is baseless, considering a lot of gay people do have children. Also infertile straight couples have the right to marry. There are many others who could have children but choose not to, even they have the right to marry. I see a double standard here.
Religiously, well it is unconstitutional of our government to favor one religious concept over another. There are religions that support same-sex marriage as well.

I don't really know. I feel like we as a society shouldn't control the way people want to live. If they want to get married by all means let them get married they deserve happiness too, but at the same time if we allow same sex marriage then whats next? If we allow it to happen then we will have to allow polygamy to happen and then the list just goes on and on of what we will have to allow. You have to draw the line some where.

I support same-sex marriage. You have probably found out that Christians are the primary group that opposes it. Instead of basing there decision on logic and human rights, they base it soley from the Holy Bible. Should we make government laws based on human rights or the bible?
Also, some people will say that its unhealthy for a same sex couple to adopt and bring up a child. Ironically, the hostile environment for this child is entirely created by the same people who say this(Christians). There kids will be the ones who pick on a child brought up by a same sex couple.

Yes , I support it.
I believe that when two people are truly in love with each other in such a way , that no man should stand on their right to declare that love.
If religion wants to stop it then that is fine. They can just find a religion that is more welcoming to them or follow there religions beliefs. Whichever they believe stronger in.
Government though has no right getting in the way of an inherently religious matter. Even if they do have a stake in marriage and have every right. Doesn't make it right.

I kind of wish they would start their own country. I"m probably going to get in trouble for saying that, right? But seriously then we could see how dedicated they are to each other, building cabins, raising children or.........whatever they do. what if there were gay people when the settling of America was going on? They couldn't have had children. Children were necessary to keep the farms going back then. I mean wouldn't they actually be kind of a liability? The ore I try to "open my mind" the more problems I see with this idea.
But gee I just don't agree with same sex marraige. I realize that belief is politically incorrect right now. Gee wiz if they can't procreate by themselves it just doesn't seem natural somehow or necessary to have laws protecting the spouse and children in this strange and unnatural union.

I do, because they are human too. They deserve the right to be treated as fairly as everyone else in this country. As long as they don't go door to door trying to make others gay, I will support them. And they pay taxes, the same as everyone else, so why should they not be able to get married......the ritual of marriage is not simply a christian thing, so why should they have the corner market on it?

I support it. I think we should be allowed the same rights as straight people. Being told we can't marry the person we fall in love with just because they're the same gender is appalling.

Yes because I don't give a crap who gets married...
And I strongly disagree with the whole sanctity of marriage arguement, considering 1 in 2 straight marriages end in a divorce, it's not all that sacred...
And to sisterzeal2, "What if there were gay people when the settling of America was going on" i assure you there were gay people in the American colonies, it's not like homosexuality is some sort of movement that sprung up in the 20th century...

I support it because I know it is not a choice.
They cannot choose whom they love and are attracted to any more than a straight person could.
They are still human, even if they may just happen to be different in this one way.
The government should give them the same right as any other person.
If they alow interacial marriage (which is like a "sin" in some cultures and religons), same sex marriage should be allowed.
If I am allowed to CHOOSE to be Wiccan, then they should be allowed to follow what they CANNOT choose.
