Luke 15:7: I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Jesus had just given this parable of the lost sheep, and here He is comparing in to heaven. "Likewise joy", the same kind of joy will be in heaven when just one sinner repenteth. In heaven, when one sinner repents, the angels rejoice; those dear family and friends that have passed on rejoice over one soul repenting for their sins. Those that do not need repentance are mature in the Word, and follow the path that God has give us through His Word.

When you set goals for your life and as you reach each of those goals, it is a time for rejoicing. The purpose for this entire earth of flesh man, is to save lost souls that have rebelled and followed Satan. When just one of those souls is saved, there is a victory in heaven, for as each lost comes to Christ, a goal is met and there is rejoicing. Each one is important, for that soul has been snatched out of Satan's hand. That rejoicing goes no not just on earth, but in heaven also.

Lets take a look at this verse, Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

This gives away the hour that He is speaking of. The flesh likes to follow after the ways of man, and get on their emotional highs, and chase after the teachings of man. The churches named in Revelation 2, and 3 are the types of churches that will exist in the final generation. Jesus is talking, and John is doing the writing, as Jesus is addressing the church in Philadelphia, and He is telling us why He loves this church. They knew those that claimed to be Jews and were not, but were of the synagogue of Satan. They knew true doctrine, for the traditions of men.

Since I counsel with a lot of people I try to discourage sin as much as possible. As for those who call you names and such we have to remember that most of these people are those who have never came to the realization that when Jesus comes into a person life He changes them into a new person and He no longer remembers the past. However people love remembering your past and using it against you that way they don't fill as bad about themselves when really if we just keep digging we will find that their biggest problem is they wish they could be like you but they just don't want to let go of their old life. It is easier to call someone else and sinner then it is yourself. Hope this helps.. God Bless you in your studies

We must always discourage sin.
1Co 6:11 And such (were) some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Notice the word, "were?"

He was talking about what kinds of sin will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven in the 2 previous verses.

We may mess up on occasion, but, we are not suppose to practice sin.
The one who practices sin willfully shows they've never truly repented.

God said it, not me.
The very word repent in the Greek means to have a change of mind.
If you're still thinking the same ole way, somethings wrong.
Stop the insanity and do this by trying NOT to sin.

Lots of excellent answers. If the Apostle Paul wrote "daily I buffet myself", I realistically doubt I'll do better than he, but I will fight the good fight until there is breath no more in me to do so. Personally, I have no external vices that can be seen by my family or the world, and most people who know me would probably tell you that my life is being lived as a Christian example; but lest anyone think I'm trying to boast, allow me to QUICKLY add that God knows my thoughts, and my mind can be A SCARY PLACE. Don't cut me off in traffic. I won't really do anything, but my MIND WILL. YOU'RE DEAD.

As far as when you try to encourage someone to rise above the sin in their life, and their response is namecalling or excuses, there is a Biblical response to this; it is found in Matthew 18:15-18. I know this may sound rough, but I didn't write it.

John the Baptist

Except for the grace of God there go I. But we are to be an example, and do It In love. Not pointing a finger and looking down your nose as I've seen some do.This Is satan's job to condemn, afterall he Is the accuser of the brethern. We are to Pray and ask God to first, prepare the hearts of those He has chose to put In our path. Then we're to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and He will give us the words to say and they'll be right on target. But most do consider Christians judgemental. I think It's because they may be approaching the situation wrong or going ahead of God. Maybe trying to be Holy Ghost Jr....We can only plant or water seeds. It's up to God To Draw people unto Himself...

I discourage sin. The first step towards Christ and salvation, is the repentance of sin. There's to much warm fuzzy Gospel these days, where we're all o.k.. It's just not Biblical. You must repent. That means, admitting your sins and asking forgiveness for them and then turning from them. This doesn't mean that you will be perfect and never sin again. We're not Christ. He is the ONLY sinless one. Our flesh is still with us and we have to put it to death DAILY. We WILL slip and fall but the thing is that we jump back up and turn back around quickly and not be overcome by sin. The closer we stay to Christ and the more time we spend with Him, the less likely we are to slip into temptation. God bless!!

In studying Scripture, none of the writers of the Scriptures ever said that it is ok to sin because we are weak. They all called sin a sin and warned people of the consequences. So according to most "Christians" in the world today, the inspired by God writers of the Holy Scriptures were being judgmental and hypocritical. This includes both jesus and God because they pointed out sins and warned of the impending doom to all those who continued in sin.

All I can say is from my own experience. When I got saved I thought I could save everyone I knew. I realized after beating my head against a stump too many times, it is not so. Most of who I knew was cut from my life. I had to draw a line for my very survival. They were toxic and were continuously pulling me down, controlling me with their weakness. I have maintained a few of them because they were once Godly people. I knew their heart and it was pretty decent. One of them was the very reason I got saved. I am who I have become. I do what I say and say what I do. Without fail. If that makes me a jerk, so be it. But they know I am what I say I am and do what I say I'll do. I will not turn my back on them but I will not allow myself to go down the kabooby hatch because of them either. I see too clearly now. How, oh blissful it was when I was blind...

If someone asks my opinion, I discourage sin. I'm not one of those "sin police" folks that runs around looking for sin so I can point it out and/or condemn it. However, if someone asks me what I think about a behavior I think in sinful, I tell them the truth.

In my opinion, sin is dangerous. In addition to the obvious consequence of separating us from God, virtually all sins can cause physical and/or psychological harm to ourselves whether we believe in God or not. God's "commands" are really more like "operating instructions" for the "human machine". If God tells people not to do something, he, like any good parent, is giving that information to us because he knows something that we may not know...in his wisdom, he is able to see the short AND long-term consequences of the every choice we face in this life.

I do believe that Jesus paid the eternal price for the sins of the world...every sin, past, present, and future so in that respect, it is "ok" that we are all weak. However, Jesus didn't pay the earthly consequences for sin...only obedience can protect us from things that can hurt us!

I am catholic and over the years I have come to believe that sin was created by men not God, sin was used as a law like all other laws we have today, since government and religion became bed partners sin leaned more to the religious side, while government created new laws while limiting sin as a law, of course this is just my opinion, but today I do not believe there is such a thing as hell or sin they are simply man made fear tactics and that's all. may God bless.
