At first I thought it was part of the "War on Terror"... then it was to "Get Saddam".... and now I've lost track... so what are the official reasons we're fighting Iraq? Why are we still there? What about Osama Bin Laden?

The answer to your first question is simply that "get Saddam", and "WMD's" were only excuses to grab Iraqs oil.

Who can guess what the current "official" reason is, that we are in Iraq? The REAL reason is that, like Vietnam, the idiot at the wheel (this time around, it's Bush) has blindly steered the country into another death trap and unfortunately we will be there for a LOOOOONG time yet!

Osama Bin laden is currently not an issue, as Al Quaida has been on holidays in Pakistan, so Bush thinks that if nobody mentions his name, he no longer exists!

Bushonlysubmales version of events evidently came direct from Washington.

Iraq had nothing to do with avenging 9/11! Then, in his excitement, he says that Iraq is more important than 9/11!? Which way does he want us to believe?

Minuteman! Iraq is NOT ours! We are at war with everybody in the country and will be there for years and years trying to sort out the mess, and will never be any closer to a final goal than we are today!

It was to get Saddam, promote democracy, and stop WMDs. The reason why we are still there is because Bush doesn't want to admit defeat because it would make him and America look weak. We aren't looking for Osama because it's not a priority for the president.

So he'll try to stay there with the new mission to:

1. Let the Iraqis lead;
2. Help Iraqis protect the population
3. Isolate extremists;
4. Create space for political progress;
5. Diversify political and economic efforts;
6. Situate the strategy in a regional approach.

We are still there also because the new mission hasn't been completed. In my opinion, we will fail. The next president will pull out. American History will turn the page on this dark chapter.

why is the US at war?

So oil companies and Bush's family can profit from oil and the spin-off industries oil produces. Like SUV manufacturing. Chemicals and plastics.

The Iraq war and ALL of their deaths have nothing to do with Bin Laden or justice or anything - Bush is nothing but a crook!

i like how everyone either listens to the media or thinks there is some mass cover up by the adminastation. guess what there isnt. saddam was a target for the war on terror and he treated his citizens like ****. those people were and still are suffering over there. the american people just have to have something to complain about and someone to blam it on. maybe if we didnt drive around in huge gas guzzling SUVs and we cared about our enviroment we wouldnt need so much oil.............conserve gas!!!

We are not fighting Iraq. We are fighting terrorists who are invading Iraq, mostly through Iran and Syria and are murdering the Iraqi people who Americans are trying to save from the evil jihad.

With great aplomb they will refer to the Qur’anic verses (such as 2:30, 6:165, 7:129, 27:62) which firmly declare that only the Muslims are the rightful inheritors of earth. Allah has assured the victory of Islam by expropriating and usurping the land of the infidels and hand them over to the Muslims (verses 13:41, 21:44, 28:58). The Islamic world is patiently waiting for this ultimate victory of Islam—no infidel should bear any doubt on this mindset of great majority of Islamic diehards.

There are thousands of Islamic organizations in the West whose job is to keep pushing their Islamic agenda to reshape the West. The message is loud and clear: conform to Islam or else face jihad, that is, Islamist terrorism.

Bush, Cheney and friends are milking the war for whats it worth, between money from special interests, oil and government contracts its hard to believe there is actually a noble reason somewhere in there.

It should have been a war with Saudi Arabia, they are the ones who attacked on 9-11

None of the justifications you hear from the media or the administration will explain why we're at war in Iraq.

Every other explanation would come from a lay person, and probably a liberal, and would therefore be attacked and called a ridiculous conspiracy by GOP loyalists.
