If you had any idea how much power you had over the things happening in your life you would be shocked that you ever once believed that anything could be hopeless.
Did you know that the brain does not multi-task it may switch subjects quickly but its one idea at a time. So you can only really focus on one thing at a time. I would ask you where is your focus. Do you amplify all the things that go wrong in your day? Is that where your spotlight shines.
Well what you pay attention to is a choice. You can choose to focus on different things. First you have to practice thinking in a new way. Listen to how things are making you feel. What are you talking about? Everything that went wrong perhaps. What you focus on you will get more of.
To stop the sadness at night before bed write down anything you can think of that you are grateful for. Anything at all. The sun or a flower. Just anything that you perceived as good. Also write down anything you can think of that you like about yourself. It can be hard so stick with it. In the morning when you wake up say to yourself today I intend to feel happy. Change your point of focus and you will be walking in a different world. There is a lot of info on this and you can read a lot more about the Law of Attraction. There have been a bunch of movies and books out about it lately but my point is I have met no one whose life did not get a lot better and fast. PHD Pert have proven emotions are addictive and has won a Nobel for her work.
You are worthy of JOY!

It depends on /how/ sad and hopeless you feel. If it's major, you'll want to go to a psychiatrist or at least talk to your doctor. If it's minor, there are lots of things you can do. I always find that helping others can lift your spirits quite a bit. Do something creative, like paint or write songs, poems, stories. Spend time with family and friends. If you're religious, pray.
One of the major things that get me down is being with cynical people, people who are constantly angry. Depression can be contagious. If you find yourself surrounded by these people, you need to spend more time with hopeful, joyous people. Happiness can also be contagious.
Sometimes you'll just feel sadder than other times, for no particular reason. If you're sure you're not depressed and you're usually happy, know that this feeling of hopelessness will pass in time.

Feeling hopeless is but natural to people who want to feel hopeless. What I mean here is that when you allow your thoughs control youremotions, you just dont know that you are already controlled. There are many things that are not taught in school in controlling our thoughd. Remember that, at this age of reason we sometimes lean to negative sphere of reasoning. What I mean here is that we entertain negative thoughts. But the way who influence our thoughts. It is influencened by the events that transpire within the periphery of our sorroundings. Meaning the events in life that we actual witness and become part of it. What I want to point here is that you need to control your thoughs that it will give you benefits rather than destruction. If you have not learn the art of controlling your destiny do it right now. This is your life, what happen to the world it is still yours. And because it is yours do not let others influence your destructions but rather bring it to the state of being happy. No amount of advise can change your life except you DO IT

I think if you can find some areas where you can take control of your life you would start to feel better. You may have to do things quite different from how you have been doing them, but if you think about it, what you have been doing isn't making you feel good. You may need to take a risk (do something you don't usually do), but you might feel invigorated by doing this and want to take control in other areas of your life. Give it a try. What have you got to lose?

Try changing what thoughts you allow into your mind. Think only on good things and don't let negative thoughts get past the threshold. Replace them with positive thoughts. When you think about yourself, change your thoughts to thinking about someone else that might need some encouragement from you. Find ways to help others whether it be a kind word or kind deed.

get prescription meds if its too bad, it changed my husband's world when he used to be horribly sad and hopeless, he now takes Paxil daily and things are just sooo much better for both of us, he isn't sad any more and actually has feelings of gratefullness he never used to have and finally had happy thoughts about his future, going to the doctor and getting this medication might have saved his life

Hey Andreaa! Boy am I glad you asked. I am a born again christian and love Jesus with all my heart. If you are a sinner, try God. If you are a christian that just needs some encouragement, read the books of psalms and romans in the bible. Super encouraging! Hope you have a great tomorrow!

Take some time alone and think about everything that is good about your life. If you can't think of anything then you just have to be that more determined to turn it around.

hope you feel better

There are lots of options:
Talk to your family if you can
Go to church if you are spiritual
Go to a therapist
Talk to your doctor
The main thing is to keep asking for help until someone takes you seriously enough to find help for you. You may need to ask a few people, hopefully you won't need to.
Good luck to you.

Go see a psychologist or psychiatrist. I was feeling the same sort of thing (maybe worse than you), and it turned out to be depression and medication and therapy have helped.
