Often when I worry something won't pan out the way it is supposed to, my fiance will tell me not to worry so much, and to have "faith".

Do you think he really just means be optimistic?

Well, it's definitely never bad to have faith. But what is it that you have faith in? It should be in something/someone you believe you can depend on. So no, it's not just being optimistic.

we have faith everyday even in the little things like before I sit down I have faith in that chair that it won't break. I have faith that my car will stop when I apply the brakes. I have faith in God that He is in control or I have faith in a plan that it will work out. defining faith is:

religion: a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny; "he lost his faith but not his morality"
complete confidence in a person or plan etc; "he cherished the faith of a good woman"; "the doctor-patient relationship is based on trust"
religion: an institution to express belief in a divine power; "he was raised in the Baptist religion"; "a member of his own faith contradicted him"
loyalty or allegiance to a cause or a person; "keep the faith"; "they broke faith with their investors"

Your fiance may just be referring to having faith in nature, man, or fate. The answer my friend, is in believing that Our Heavenly Father has a plan for each and every one of us, and in believing that the prophet, Jesus Christ, died for our sins. Then, after prayer, Faith will come.
I am known for being a "worry wart", but having faith in God, helps me not to make up more concern than I need to, and to spend my energy on more useful things, such as helping others.

What is "faith" but trust in the un-proven?

If I asked you to walk across a busy highway BLINDFOLDED and remain un-injured based on faith, would you be an intelligent example of God's creation to follow that advice?

Or would you be frickin' road kill?

yes it does , sometime it's good to have faith.

you transfer all your worries to something else in hope they work out eventually and then you stop worrying.
whereas other's would have to work on it and worry about it everyday

faith start to cause problems when you start to shove belief down other's throat or cause them to worry about life after death because of the difference in religion between them and the loves one.

it also start to cause problems when you start to affect others belief , war tend to start on the big scale.

since many says that god can see and read your heart. i don';t think theres a need to verbally say you have faith or whatsoever , likewise , if you don;t believe in god and yet screaming through a microphone that you believe in god , he will also know you don't believe in him.

I think he means that the expected probability is that things WILL turn out the way they're supposed to......as long as you work toward that end.
