I wanted to make a cake, and i wanted it to be big. So, I got two cake box mixes and I made a batter for two cakes, but I decided to put the whole batter in one pan. Now, it is browned on the outside and not AT ALL cooked on the inside. I have lowered the temperature and I am giong to keep in in longer. Is there anything else that I can do?

Stick a toothpick in... If it comes out clean, it's done. Or a wooden skewer if you need something longer.

Yes, I agree you should have made each cake in a separate pan or used a larger pan. (about twice the size) Do keep the temperature the same as directed on the box, the outside of the cake may get darker than usual but it will still taste alright. Test for doneness with a toothpick, it should come out clean.

You should have made each one in a separate pan. But since you have it in one pan, keep the temperature the same that it says on the box and bake it until a toothpick inserted in the center of the pan comes out clean. Good luck with the cake. Happy cooking!

I own a bakery and heres a few tips when cake baking in the future
1) the nail used for making flowers in cake decorating, put it in the middle of the cake upside down, grease it and pour batter in the pan. the nail warms and cooks from the inside out.
2) cook at the temperature recommended, if you think it may be done, VERY gently tap the highest point of the cake. if the cake doesn't jiggle, (this technique i call, the jiggle with out the wiggle) then put a skewer in the middle. if it comes out clean, then its done.
