Depends on if he is known to gain weight easily or even loose weight easily. Does he want to get in shape before the wedding or is he just fine and plans to stay the same?

I was married in 2006. I suggest at least 3 months, especially if the wedding party is going to be getting their tuxes from the same place. They should all have their fittings at least 2 months before the wedding, in case of any problems.

Be aware that there may still be some fitting problems when you receive them, so be prepared to have everyone try them on before leaving the store at pick up. Also, suggest that all the groomsmen buy their own shoes, and suggest what they should look like. They will be more comfortable that way. If you don't want to do that, at least have your soon-to-be husband buy his own shoes to complete his outfit. He'll be much happier that way.

As soon as possible, most Tux rental places advise to reserve at least 1 month before, but I would suggest doing it as early as possible so that the style and number of tuxes you need are available.
