And God said, let there be light, and there was light. And He saw what he had made and it was good.
God made the Sun, and God controls the Sun. God used this power to control the Sun to show Joshua and His people that He would grant them the day light needed to conquer their foes in the name of God.
The passage clearly says it had never happened before (the Sun staying high in the sky for an entire day) and it would never happen again.
It is another example of God's love for his chosen, and how He can do whatever he wants without limitation.

Joshua was fighting a war and he needed more daylight time to defeat his enemies. They didn't have the technology we have today to fight a war. So Joshua prayed that God would hold the sun from going down and thus Joshua won a great victory for the Lord. Remember at the north pole its 6 months daylight and 6 months dark, its not like this is something that could not be taken literlly. I believe it happened because God was on Joshua's side.

It is the only instance in the entire Bible where God heeded a human voice. Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, and truly, it did shine for the entire day in the sky without seting at the usual time. It was necessary for the Lord to fight the battle against the Gibeonites. Joshua was always entirely subservient to the Lord and this was no exception.

easily, you may desire to alter your wording basically quite: Hebrew Bible Roman Catholic Bible Protestant Bible The Jewish scholars finished the version of the Hebrew Bible in with reference to the third century. That text textile is blanketed in the two the RC and Prot. Bible. The order of the books is distinctive, through fact of underlying assumptions. The Christian Bible (the hot testomony) wasn't extremely nailed down until very nearly the 10th century or so. After that, it replaced into locked in. This replaced into accomplished in a chain of Church Councils. this text is the comparable in the two the RC and Prot. Bible, and the previous testomony is rather plenty the comparable in the two of those Bibles, different than that the order could be somewhat distinctive. the only distinction between the RC and Prot. Bibles is the presence of the Apocrypha -- various books that have been unknown in Hebrew, yet have been blanketed robotically in Greek language translations of the previous testomony that have been in familiar use around the time of the early Church. That Greek translation of the previous testomony (noted as the Septuagint) replaced into so familiar (maximum Jews did not at that ingredient undergo in recommendations a thank you to communicate or study Hebrew anymore) that whenever you detect the previous testomony quoted interior the hot testomony, that's continuously the Septuagint text textile they're quoting.

The whole thing is basically in the 10 chapter of Joshua whch you can read for yourself in about 2 minutes. Then write the highlights.
The Gibeonites has deceived Israel and made a treaty with Israel. The King of Jerusalem attacked the Gibeonites and Israel came to their defense.
They fought against the King Adoni-zedek of Jerusalem and he fled with his men.
God rained down hailstones from heaven and killed more than the Israelites did.
Joshua prayed to God and God stopped the sun for about a day so that Joshua could destroy the enemy.
The 5 kings who sided with Jerusalem all fled to a cave. Joshua covered the entrance with huge stones.
The enemy was destroyed.
I am typing out of memory and I'm old so check out these facts in teh story befor you write it.
Good luck.

This chapter of Joshua 10 is where God stood time still, so that Joshua and the children of Israel could slaughter their enemies....(13And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies.) There was never a day before this time that time stood still, nor was there a day after the fact that stood still. The Lord fought for the children of Israel. They were able to return to their camp(15And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.). Joshua defeated all the kings and took control of all the land by God standing time still.
Hope this helps.....Lord bless
