So my friends have been saying that if you put a bottle of vodka upside down sticking into a watermelon with the spout of the bottle inside of the melon and let it sit, then all of the vodka will soak up into the melon and you can get drunk by eating slices of the melon. Is this true?

It would depend on how big the watermelon was and how much of it you had to drink, but yes, you could get drunk from eating the slices of said mellon.

Yup, it just soaks it up. Also if you were hoping to take some of the edge off the vodka and make it easier to consume by putting it in the melon, that doesn't work you just have some horrible burning melon you have to get down.

Yes, of course - you are still getting the liquor. I remember in college cutting off a part of the length-wise top, scooping out the mellon to make a big bowl , then refilling it with some of the melon chunks along with other fruits of your choice, like a fruit salad, (peaches, strawberries, pineapple etc.), filing with vodka and letting it sit 12 hours or so to marinate - a good party centerpiece. Kinda like a wine sangria, but on a stronger level! Be careful, it can be potent!!

Yep! Although using a syringe is alot better, and keeps the watermelon a little fresher. After you have the vodka (I prefer everclear) in the melon let it sit in a fridge and soak in for a day.

Well you would be eating the Vodka instead of drinking it so the answer is obviously yes. But you may wind up having a bad hang over if you don't get really sick first because of all the watermelon you ate.

Yes, but you can do it with rum or tequila too. Cut a little wedge from the top, flip the bottle in and refrigerate. When the bottle is empty, it's ready. Just put the wedge back in and carve when ready.
