So you answer, have you been able to go to the movies lately?

You give the answer as it pertains to you. Here are the two examples you gave:
TU AS pu aller au cinéma récemment?
Were you able to go to the movies recently?
TU AS choisi un bon film?
Did you choose a good film?
Okay, all you have to do is change the part I put in caps to either "Oui, j'ai" (to say you did) or "Non, je n'ai pas" to say you didn't. The rest will stay the same.
Facile, n'est-ce pas?

You're supposed to compose some sentences using irregular verbs plus the conjugated form of "avoir" to make it sound like you personally have done something or are asking personal questions.
