My sister is turning 11 soon and I want to buy her a birthday present. She really wants Sims 2 and I would like to get it for her. The problem is that it deals with things that will go over her head (trying for a baby etc.) I'm worried that she's not ready for that (she's the innocent type that plays with Polly Pockets and believes in Santa.). Can anyone who plays tell me their thoughts on this?

well sims 2 is a really naughty game that should only be purchased by students who attend middle school or higher ( i say this because i think that most children have been exposed to things like that by that age, either by parents or their peers). if she is really innocent and oblivious to all the way baby's are made, making out, and other stuff i wouldn't advise this game for her. however, sims 2 is an extremely fun game that i really enjoy playing; when the sims try for a baby it is nothing explicit they just move around under the covers with fireworks going around their heads. if you are still uncomfortable with this you can always buy her more barbie doll ( Polly pockets). basically Sims 2 is like playing barbie except for the fact that it is on the computer and is played by both sexes. i hope i helped you to make your decision, i can tell that you really care for your sister and i admire you for that. if you do decide to get the game just ask yourself whether or not she is ready to be exposed to how cruel the world can be. :)

hey i just read the info on your page and i think it is really cool that you are a vegetarian (lol i'm one too)

I have had the Sims 2 since i was 11, but when i was 11 i acted like i was 14 so...
anyway, it should be okay, some things like trying for a baby you can't acess unless you know how it happens in real life anway so if she doesn't already know she wont find out from the game. Just watch her the first time she plays and maybe turn off the guide which sometimes tell you how things yo wouldnt want her to be having her sims do are done

Though I love Sims, I'd say no. If she's the innocent type that really doesn't know about some of the stuff she may encounter on Sims2 (WooHoo!, Try for Baby), I wouldn't get her involved in it just yet...

I don't want to make it sound like Sims is all bad, though. It really is a fun game. Maybe you should wait a bit longer...

While it deals with many human simulations, it is very downsized and censored, so you won't actually see ay sex involved, however you can get them to take their clothes off, kiss, get in a jacuzzi, etc, so my advice is buy the game, but try to watch over her for the first day or so through playing. I got the first sims when I was 12, so, I didn't think too much of all the aspects of the game, it's just a fun game overall.

I started playing Sims when I was maybe 8 or 9? Although back then it was Sims 1...it was "Play" in bed, not "try for a baby". I didn't really think much of it...but whatever your parents feel comfortable with really.

There are make out scenes as well as censored nude scenes (shower, bathroom, or naked in the jacuzzi) but there are cheats to get rid of the censor.

Maybe if you buy it for her, but tell her in order for her to play it you have to check out the game first. She might think it's unfair, so get her some candy or a giftcard for backup. It's a fun game, so if you think its innapropriate for her, at least you've got a sweet game to play :)

No it is probably not appropriate. I understand that would you want to get it for her but theres a reason its for Teens, not 11 year olds. The Sims2 as you know has Try For Baby and it shows a clip thats not appropriate. you should ask your parents too or have them play it and see if they think its okay. I play the game and its really fun but Im 13 so I'm old enough. And woohoo, make out, etc. isnt appropriate for her. i hope i helped! =D

I don't think that's an appropriate game for her. If I were your parents, I would not appreciate you getting her a game where part of the storyline is that you "try for a baby".

If I were you, I'd talk to your parents, and try to get them to help you have some ideas that are more age-appropriate gifts for your sister.

I haven't really messed around with it much but you can certainly enjoy it without ever trying for a baby. Also when they do try for a baby it is pretty tame. I think there are also parental controls on it, I know there is a way to turn off nudity.

I'm not sure its for younger kids, its more of an adult game. What's the age rating for the game? What do your sister's parents say? I think she should be at least 14 to play. There are a lot of bad things to do on there, especially if you have cheats. I don't think its really a good idea.

Anything inappropriate you actually have to CHOOSE to do it. And the things are named very strange names (like woohoo for sex). So if she doesn't know what it is, she probably won't choose to do it. And if she does, it is very tame. She won't know what is going on. (When people woohoo, they get under the covers and fireworks shoot out from the bed.)

It is a very fun game and I think she will love it! Get her the pets expansion pack. I'm sure she would love to get some pets and teach them tricks and stuff :) She will be more interested in that then making people woohoo.
