Only about a million times a day, God love 'em! It appears that many of my dear Christian sisters and brothers checked in their brains when they went through the Christian turnstile.

I would not say so much embarrassed - nor would I say that it is a matter of mental dominance or not. But, I am a bit ashamed of some who give ambiguous answers to questions or do not even attempt mature exchange of logic.

I am not the most learned person, but I do try to give information that is more than, "'Cause the Bible says so" or "'Cause God said...". Even though I do believe these ideas to be true, I would rather back up these with written, scientific or statistical information, as I am able to acquire them.

I do not want to insult good effort. I know there are some who know only a basic, simple answer - on either side of a debate. But, others who are "farther along" should at least try to use their intelligence and resources the best they can.

I was raised Baptist. I began to feel the sting of doubt at age 14.

The embarrassment of being associated with so many fanatical, uneducated, shallow, two-faced, and prideful people was what made me question the entire business.

I spent many years closely examining my faith and my soul and the revelation came to me, slowly and painfully, that Christianity as an institution is lost and full of lies and struggles for power. Everywhere I looked I could not find anyone who did not have a private life that made me queasy and disappointed in them as people.

The only true believers seemed to be the people who did not think too much about their routine-- go to church on Sundays, pray before you go to bed, make banana bread for the bake sale.

Even the bible, once I looked into the politics of it's compilation and authorship, opened my eyes to the corruption inherent in this religion.

I think too much to blindly follow.

God wants us to be thinking and aware-- this is the blessing of humanity.

I now consider myself Agnostic, believing that someone is out there, but unwilling to sign up for someone else's version of events. I can't trust anything but my own heart.

Some whom CLAIM to be a "Christian" bring me sadness more often then not...other times, I truly have to wonder if they are pretending to be "Christian" just to put a smear upon Christianity and God.

Babes in Christ whom speak with heart felt enthusiasm may err in some of what they say, but they are trying to do right, so, they do not embarrass either.

BUT.... when I hear of Christians sending foul e-mail messages...yes...THAT embarrasses me...and hurts everyone.

Peace be with you :)

**....and, have to say the same as Horton... I have probably caused my own brothers and sisters to raise eyebrows too, lol :)

Oh yes. Very much so. But I'm positive I embarrass them, too.

Good reminder for Christians: Jesus came for the sick and not the well. That's all of us.

To quote G.K. Chesterton when asked what was the problem with the world and why it kept getting worse:

Dear Sirs:

I am.

Sincerely yours,

G.K. Chesterton

i'm no longer a mainstream Christian. i'm greater of a leftist than mainstream. I help progressive Christianity. At any fee, I do discover Fundamentalism a humiliation, no longer just to myself, yet to all of Christendom. There are human beings from almost each denomination who very almost look attempting to outdo Fundamentalists of their insistence upon intolerance and petty habit, so it is no longer purely the Fundamentalists who're in charge. In my own opinion, any team that promotes hatred, bigotry and intolerance interior the call of Christ needs to discover something else to call itself different than Christian.

Only the fake Christians embarrass me. The real Christians do not embarrass me.

the Christians that embarrass me are the modern day Pharisees, the ones who spend most of their time trying to indoctrinate people with their particular brand of rules, I suppose thinking that proper rule keeping leads to holiness. I hate seeing people converted, find the joy of the Lord and the freedom He offers to people, only to see that snuffed out as they are weighed down by man-ordained do's and don'ts that choke the life out of people..."for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life"

Yes, I had one Christian say there never were Dinosaurs!
I thought he was joking at first. I had to show him where Dinosaurs are mentioned in the bible, then he believed.

Sheesh.
