my teeth are in pain and when i attempt to eat anything, i feel as though my teeth are going to pull out. thanks for the great answers that i received. i understand that i shouldn't eat hard foods, or chewy substances; common sense, so i suppose i should have been more specific when i meant what types of foods. but it was nice to here the replies. and by the way, professional is spelled with an "o" not "e"...just so you konw :)

When I had temporary crowns, I used to crunch through them regularly. It seemed I was always finding something hard enough to break them down. They were on my incisors, so it was difficult to find easy things. Thin sandwich meat in soft bread like Rainbow bread were easy on the teeth. Cottage cheese was good, too.

My big problem is I love large carrots; I eat them like Bugs Bunny. I learned to bite them off with my canine teeth, but every now and again it would involve my incisors, and, once again I had to get new temporaries.

Soft foods are the key. You don't have to keep to purees and soups, but don't go for the crunchy veggies and fruits. Grapes are cool. Stay away from cheeses. Even soft cheeses can stick to your temporaries so that it can pull them off.

Change your chewing strategy so that you are not using the teeth that have the temporary crowns. I must have bitten through about 5 sets of temporaries during the 6 months I waited for my real crowns.

With temporary crowns try to avoid gum and sticky candies, anything with potential to pull on the tooth. Also, avoid hard things such as ice chewing/ etc. Avoid flossing regularly, instead pull floss down and out the side until your crown it permanently cemented on or hold the temp crown down and then pull the floss back out. You should be pretty safe to eat almost anything w/ the permanent crown and fillings. Mainly just avoid chewing ice or similar things b/c they are too hard on the porcelain and could cause it to chip or crack.

You want to stay away from sticky chewy foods until the restoration is permanently cemented. No saltwater taffy, different caramels, etc.

I think you want to stay away from foods that are hard like nuts.
