What is a moderate Muslim?

Question

I live in Canada and from my own personal experience 99% of Muslims of moderates

1) the follow the laws of Canada before they follow the laws of their Koran
2) they believe in the separation of the Islamic religion and the state

Pretty much anyone who follows this line of thought is a moderate in my opinion.What do you guys think?

They are those who are muslim in name only. The ones that don't practice their faith that much.

If they practice their religion they are extremists because their religion is extreme.

A moderate Muslim is a person who knows how well the Quran emphasizes moderacy in all things, how well it hates those who create havoc in their societies, and how clearly is says: obey your leaders, except in circumstances where they tell you to go against God.

The laws of most western countries do no such thing.

Thus being a moderate Muslim there, is not that hard.

Also, most western Muslims have discovered Islam much later, they were either Christians before or had no firm faith. Thus their knowledge of Islam is clearer as they have not been hampered by years and years of mixing between Islam and their culture (like people in the middle east have)

Muslims in the west are traditionally much more moderate than Muslims in the Middle East.

The reasons why vary, everything from cultural influence to the fact moderate Muslims immigrate in higher numbers.

a moderate muslim does not insist his belief to others but is firm in following the laws in the quran and practices in the hadith.
I follow the laws of my land, the Philippines, which is non islamic but is lenient and respect the islamic belief, men are allowed to marry 4 wives here, and even made forms for converts to have islamic names duly recognized by the registrar office.
what we don't have as some other islamic state is stoning to death or meting any death sentence to those guilty of adultery,or other heinous crimes and also the cutting of hands of robbers.

i think that a moderate Muslim is the opposite of a extremist/terror Muslim.

Some people here might say it is a Muslim that is not an extremist, -------not against, not support. That is a Neutral Muslim.

A Moderate Muslim is against terrorism.

I think a moderate muslim is one without the obsession to kill infidels. Thats moderate enough for me.
