Many believers point to the fact that the bible took many millenia and many authors to write it as proof of its divinity. But, comic books also had many authors over many generations writing and retconning (retroactive continuity) the stories so they would agree with past texts. Is the bible just another, albeit quite old, version of a comic book just without the cool pictures?

amcj1991: BS! Tell me one thing Christians don't make an excuse about. They can't even agree amongst themselves about things stated in the bible.

I think it's more like a horror book ..you have the burning fires of hell, the devil, a God whose idea of love is to be jealous, angry, vein, controlling, cruel and vindictive, plays favourites and loves material stuff like lavish churches.

Originally , Collected Inherited Verbal Stories with Sign, Dance & Song elements interwoven into them, were the origin of the Biblical stories , sort of the entertaining comic books / TV of yesteryear . Given that the story teller may well have been wearing a ceremonial Costume ( not made of spandex though ) during the reenactments with the added bonus of song dance and delivered speech could well be adjunctive to the stories becoming bigger than the story-tellers themselves therefore becoming so culterally significant that they were eventually ( in stages ) collected into bigger and bigger tomes to become the BIble TM of today ( or another pre Christian tome ) .
The Bible: The World's Oldest Comic Book ? Er, more like the above being the Oldest comic books .

I can't offer much in the way of proof. My belief is based on faith. There are some writings from other cultures that do bear out some of the old testament stories however. Also, the Romans kept quite good records so we know a lot of the people talked about did exist.King Herod for example. We also have the remnants of several buildings like the Wailing Wall that also correspond to writings in the old testament. But since none of us was around during any of these times we have to choose to believe or not believe. In a few hundred years people in the future will be reading things written in the 1800's and 1900's and wondering just how much of what was written actually happened.

A comic book and the Bible has to be the most sacreligious and downright idiotic comparison I've ever heard of. It's like comparing an apple to a foot. Two totally and completely different things that aren't even close to being in the same group.

Ohhh, since you're at the comic-book-reading level, then no wonder the Bible is way over your head. You could try reading a children's version of the Bible which would be easier for you to understand.

With your logic, the same could be said about a science book, and by the way, science has yet to prove the Bible wrong.

You know, since the Bible claims to be revealed to babes and children, yet confounds the wise and smug...
You could draw a correllation there.
But, just remember: God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.

Don't make fun of the Bible. But yeah, its sad that the actual original version of Bible that was brought by Jesus is no longer in its pristine condition. Instead of retaining it in its actual form for the generations to come, so many people have come up with their own versions of bibles, making it difficult for us to actually believe in any.

No, you can get bibles with pictures. I had one when I was a kid.
The fact that it took centuries to write isn't proof of its divine origin, but rather evidence that it is of divine origin. There's all kinds of evidence that point to that.

If you want to base your life on comic books you can. Personally I'll still trust the Bible.
