II Corinthians 6:1 "We then as workers together with Him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain."
When you have taken Christ by faith through your repentance, you become a worker together with Christ. Paul urges each Christians that when you receive salvation and the Word that you don't waste it, to become a wasted vessel. We see it happening all the time with people that claim to be Christians, and yet not one word of Christ is given by them to others. It simply cannot be seen by their actions that they are a Christian. Paul is urging us to let our countenance be seen to show others around us that we love Him. Let there be no doubt in anyone's mind just who you are and where you stand. Don't waste God's grace and salvation once you have received that glorious gift.
This is why Paul said that when you fast, clean yourself up, and reflect the happiness that is in your heart. You fast because of your inner commitment, and your happiness that shows on the outside reflects on those around you that you are accomplishing something in the work of the Lord.

My take on this Is....If you say the Lord's name In vain,you make It no more than a by-word used for shock value. The same way with grace. Don't do It If you don't mean It.In doing so all you'll have Is a case of the Do Betters,and still be hell bound. If you repent and continue to sin then you crucify Christ a-fresh..leaving nothing to sacrifice. Never take the things of God lightly.God knows the True Intent of your heart...

Because EVERYONE receives God's Grace and only Christians who accept Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment in full for our sins are the ones who don't receive the Grace "in vain."

When you read the whole chapter. Paul is saying: No matter what, don't give up. Don't be unequally yoked.
Come out from among the world.
After all this work and teaching you have received, it would be a shame for you to turn again to your sinful ways.
newman is not glued to the doctrine of once saved always saved.
Only if you stay saved.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye (continue) in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Simply: The definition of vain is lightly or without depth of feeling. Some folks really need to spread their knowledge a bit toward the common dictionary, before they grab their list of Bible quotes.

God gave you special, unearned favor when he sent his Son to die for your sins. If you hear and do not obey the words of those who teach you....you have made the grace of God unimportant. It is a slap in God's face, that although you know the truth,,,you reject his Son and his death on the cross..there are actually people out there, who know the truth but turn from it and go their own way.

that ye receive not the grace of God in vain:
by "the grace of God", is not meant the grace of God in regeneration, and effectual calling, which can never be received in vain; for the grace of God never fails of producing a thorough work of conversion; nor is it ever lost, but is strictly connected with eternal, glory: but by it is meant either the doctrine of grace, the Gospel of Christ, so called, because it is a declaration of the love and grace of God to sinners, ascribes salvation in part, and in whole, to the free grace of God, and is a means of implanting and increasing grace in the hearts of men. Now this may be received in vain by ministers and people, when it is but notionally received, or received in word only: when it is abused and perverted to vile purposes, and when men drop, deny it, and fall off from it; or else by the grace of God may be designed gifts of grace, qualifying for ministerial service; and the sense of the exhortation be, that they be careful that the gifts bestowed on them might not be neglected by them, but be used and improved to the advantage of the church, and the glory of Christ; by giving up themselves to study, meditation, and prayer, by labouring constantly in the word and doctrine, and by having a strict regard to their lives and conversations, "that the ministry be not blamed"; which exhortation he pursues in, and by his own example.

By not taking it seriously, not considering the implications.
1Co 15:2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
Ga 4:11 I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.

Through pride. James 4:6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."
