before or after bake? I've been looking all over the internet and recipes but i can't find the answer!

soak the sticks in water first and foremost before you cook them place the sick centered in the dough for instance chocolate chip cookies you want to make sure the cookie cooks around the stick securing it.

Before you bake them and make sure you have enough of the stick into the cookie to balance them out.

try making one and seeing how it works, my personal suggestion is to make a ball with your dough and put the stick in it lay it on the cookie sheet and smoosh it down slightly making a flat top and bottom and make sure the stick lays flat, upon baking it should flatten out more, and remember you are making one to see how it turns out and catch any mistakes. do not move it until its completely cool or its likely to break.

Before so the cookie shrinks around the stick and is firmly attached - after they cool use royal frosting to reinforce the seal so thy don't crack. Good Luck!

I agree with seapigsfly. Soak the sticks first so they don't burn in the oven.
