I don't know of any Christians who despise those who participated in the crucifixion.
Just to give you an example, in the movie The Passion of the Christ, it was Mel Gibson's own hand that swung the hammer nailing Jesus to the cross. Gibson wasn't doing this merely for a cameo--he was doing it for its symbolic significance. It is our sins that drove Jesus to choose death on the cross--it is as if I had crucified Him myself.

Who says that we do? Every year, there is a ritual re-enactment of the Crucifixion at my church. Guess who gets the role of standing there shouting, "Crucify Him!"? It's us, the parishioners. We are being taught that we're just as guilty as anyone who was physically driving the nails into Christ's hands, and also that we're not to judge the people who took part in it. If we were there, we'd likely have been right in the middle of that crowd calling for His death. So yes, the Crucifixion was part of the divine plan, as were the people taking part in it, and we are very much made aware of it.

There are a lot of Christians who do not despise those who participated in the Crucifixion. Those who do, I imagine, are reacting to the horror of a perfectly innocent person, who is God, being subjected to an unjust and cruel execution. But, as you say, it had to happen. It was God's plan to bring salvation. While it was horrible, there is, in my opinion, no reason to get worked up about it.

I do not despise anyone, and Jesus CHOOSE to go the cross and die for our sins. Someone did try to stop it, Simon Peter read Matthew 26:51-54 and John 18:10-11. God bless.

We don't "despise those who participated in the crucifixtion[sic]", they fulfilled Old Testament prophesy.
In fact, the only one we despise is Satan.

if they were indeed, merely pawns in a game controlled by MUCH larger players, they certainly were "pushed" into doing what they did.
mebbe even Judas had the really *tough* job of drawing the short-straw to play "betrayer".
man-o-man, talk about getting "set up".
wouldn't that be the textbook example of:
"tough job, but somebody's got to do it."
- - - -
*IF* the story is actually "true"
.. but I'm rather agnostic about it all... just looking out for what must be the case if the rest of the story is true ...
hypotheticals, y'know :)

God's plan is set in stone..it cannot be thwarted...Christians feel the same way, Jesus did about it..he said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do"...they did not know he was the Son of God.

Because people are human beings.
Its like saying if everyone is going to die, why do you get upset when someone does?
And because those feelings had to exist for the following rise of Christianity to happen.

It was not Gods plan for sin to enter into the human Race. Jesus Christ is God himself made flesh. Jesus was crucified to fulfill the scriptures. And, no one could have stopped this from happening. and, praise God that he did this for you and me....a m e n.

It would be ludicrous of me to despise anyone for it. We all sin, so figuratively we were all in the crowd, shouting, "Crucify Him!"
~EDIT~
Come to think of it, though, I *have* heard some people refer to Jews as "Christ-killers." I always wondered why people who talk that way should resent Christ's crucifixion, when they clearly aren't very concerned with His teachings.
