a response that won't start a fight is 'thanks, but no thanks'
a better response is 'if you back now off and leave me be, i'll ask the goddess not to reincarnate you as a roach in my septic tank'
you don't actually have to keep the promise. the goddess does as she will.

If they tell me I'm going to hell, I usually laugh and explain that I would rather be there than with the arrogance I see in some of this Gods followers.
I've had several claim they are praying for me, which depending on exactly what they are praying for it usually doesn't bother me. If they are praying that my will change to match theirs, I point out that they wouldn't appreciate someone else praying that their will be changed to match someone else's.
Oh, I'm on several Church prayer lists lol Have been on different one's for years. Obviously their God isn't listening... I'm still Pagan.
Exactly!! They need to put themselves in other people's shoes and Think about what they are saying. I'm sure many of them would feel offended if someone of another religion treated them exactly the way they treat Non-Christians.
If they are persistent though, I turn into a mean little ***** and turn everything they say against them. If they can't take the polite hint... they will get that one. ^_^ I don't mind discussion... but I won't stand for someone slamming me with their religion after being told that I'm not interested.

I'm a Christian. I refuse to go around consigning people to hell. That's not what my church teaches, and I don't do it. It's been done to me because I'm of a different denomination than most other Christians in this area, and it's appalling. My reaction at being damned to hell is likely about the same as yours. I find it presumptuous and judgmental. There is not an opportunity in my church for me to blab someone's name in the middle of a church service like that, so I don't even know what that's all about, or what kind of church would find that appropriate. If people ask me to pray for them, then I will, but don't go around chirping "Jesus loves you" and "I'm going to be praying for you" to random passers-by. That seems like more of a Fundamentalist sort approach.

To my way of thinking, if you have not specifically asked this Christian to do these things, then he/she has crossed the line and are not doing God's work at all.
Christians need to work quietly behind the lines and when asked to help, they must not decline. They must have enough understanding and faith in God to let God handle His creation, and He will let us know what to do when He wants to.
It is too bad many Christians are busybodies, when they should mind to there own business of self-purification, etc.

If they say i'm going to hell I say;
"In that case see you there"
If they inform me they're praying for me i'll say;
"If you want to do that, thats cool, thanks for the concern"
If they mentioned my name in a church service i'd think it was kind of wierd and ask how and why they used it
And is they said 'Jesus loves you, he died for you' i'd say;
"Cool to know, i'll be on my way now, bye"

I listen simply. If it is true I have to obey. If not why to react? Hence Silence and a smile is my reaction in either cases.
