Tattoos have been around for centuries.

Why do young people get tattoos? The same reason older people get them.

when you were a kid a gallon of milk only cost 25 cents. when you were a kid a brand new car only cost $3,000. times change and so do people. i don't know who you consider to be "young people" but i'm 26 and i have tattoos, my husband is 30 and he has tattoos. i won't say how old my parents are but they both have tattoos too and none of us are criminals, ex-cons or circus people.

I think because it has become more excepted and people like to express themselves that way and people like to live on the edge now days. A lot of people get tattoos in memory of someone or to remember a certain time or event in their lives.
Artists have gotten a lot better at tattooing too and technology is better. We have more color and pretty tattoos now.

I am 18 and I am trying to save up for my first tattoo in memory of my dad that just passed away.

I also think that people now don't give a crap what other people think and want to express themselves in a tattoo.

And yeah I agree with everyone else it just looks cool.

You can't say that you don't think Kat Von D is hott. Although I don't think that many tattoos would look good on me.

Well, that's because times change. Tattoos are more mainstream (especially since the 90s) and more acceptable, just like lots of other things that used to be taboo in years gone by. I hear young people also listen to rock and roll, but Lord knows what that will lead to.

You must be really, really old then if those were the only types of people getting tattooed when you were a kid......
And by the way, older people get tattoos as well. I got my first at 38.

mediaphobia is right. these guys are right. many have meaning and they look cool. I was 20 on my first tatoo. I'm still damn proud (that one is my patriotic one). my others are a medical smybol(I'm a nurse) and rose (for a loved relative who has passed on). tatoos are very popular in the military.
