A close friend of mine has told me she regularly takes from 30- 50 2mg Xanax at a time. She is a single mum going through a rough time and I am worried she will OD. She is also taking Prozac and mixing alcohol to the mix to top it off. What can I do to help get her some help, and what would be the physical and/or mental effect this is having on her? Please help...

She can die if she's mixing it with booze, otherwise she'll just fall asleep. She's obviously built up a tolerance.

She needs help, but she won't be ready til she hits bottom.

At most, Xanax (and other benzos) can bring the patient to a comatose state. Death is very unlikely, as these medications have a "ceiling effect" - i.e. you won't kill yourself but you may come close.

All medications can have side effects if overdosed on - including vitamin C (kidney problems, interactions with the pill), etc.

If this person truly takes thirty to fifty 2 mg Xanax tablets on a regular basis without respiratory arrest, you have answered your own question. Benzodiazepines are not the killers barbiturates can be when overdosed especially with alcohol. (Ask Marilyn Monroe) Intervention may be needed to get this person into rehab.

60-100mg of Xanax at one time?
I am sorry but I simply don't believe it.
You absolutely can die from that amount of Xanax especially when mixed with alcohol. Her breathing would simply stop aka respiratory failure.
Also, where would she be getting that kind of supply? If she WERE taking that amount and went even one day without any, a seizure is all but guaranteed. Her poor brain would go into insane overdrive. I think she's lying to you.

you can overdose (that is, reach a TOXIC LEVEL) on anything that the body can store. The only exception I know is Vitamin C, which for whatever reason, the body cannot store. When you mix any drug with booze, it can magnify the effect, and much lower doses can be toxic, way below what is prescribed. Such dangerous behavior can lead to severe illness, even death. STRONGLY SUGGEST your friend talks to a doctor before continuing this reckless behavior.
