Puppies often have fat bellies that will go away as they age, so it could just be that, but she may need to be wormed again. I recently added a second dog to my family, a puppy, and she was wormed before I brought her home, but I needed to have it done again a month later because she had them again.

Also, and I know you're not "thick," but do you measure the amount of food she gets each day, or just feed her "small amounts?" If you are not measuring, you may want to start, but to be honest, I don't think this problem is a result of overfeeding.

At any rate, this is not the best place to get help for something that could be potentially serious. If your next vet appointment is not soon, then you really should make one and have someone who actually knows what they are talking about take a look at your pup.

What did you use to worm your pup? Puppies nearly always have roundworms, which are treated by a wormer called strongid. This is a yellow liquid. Usually, puppies are treated for worms several times (2 weeks apart) before being considered "worm free". Many puppies just have "Buddah bellies"! It sounds like you're feeding her properly- as long as she is going to the bathroom regularly, and has no diarrhea, she's OK. At 8 weeks, its time for a "well" vet visit anyway, so you should set up an appointment. Good luck with her!

I don't want this as a put down but how was she wormed a lot of the over teh counter isn't that great and needs to be done more often.
I would strongly suggest having her checked at the vets for safety so you don't end up with a bloat problem and emergency surgery.
I truly hope you don't take this the wrong way I am truly trying to help. But it ddoesn't sound right

There are different types of worms and dewormers. Most dewormers take more than one dose, and OTC products can be ineffective. If she is 8 weeks old I'm guessing you got her recently and the breeder told you she had been dewormed. Breeders often only give one dose of the medication, since it is given in two or three doses. So even if she had dewormer from the breeder she may still have worms.

Your wormer may not cover all types of worms -- you probably want to check. Most puppies have round tummies - they're puppies afterall. Unless it is hard or uncomfortable for the dog, I'd say don't worry about it.

Yes, cats do wander off and die. People who are insulting you about this are just childish and should be ignored. Wonder if they have ever tried to tame a wild cat enough to get it to come in the house - and then listen to it cry night and day to go out? That cat would have shot out the door the minute it was opened. You were sweet to feed it while you had it. Take care honey.
