Hi, HPV comes in a couple of different varieties. One is cervical cancer and another is genital warts. Usually when you have one type, you don't get the other type. It is easily transmitted and there is usually no cure. You can be treated for what you have, but not cured. Once you have HPV, you always have it. Chances are your husband has already contracted it. For many people, there are no signs or symptoms.

You cannot get the gardasil vaccination once diagnosed with HPV Gardisil is to prevent it.

Your husband has already been exposed to the virus. They will to a rDNA on the virus type and tell you what strain of the virus you have. You have many options. Is it mild, moderate or severe dysplasia? If they are wanting you back every 6 months for a colposcopy ask your Dr. about a L.E.E.P That way you won't have to worry about it for awile after.
Once a LEEP if preformed you should have normal paps for a few years.

Question your Dr. as to why he is vaccinating you against something you already have?

Just for clarification, dysplasia is "pre-cancerous cells". Talk to your doctor about what your husband needs to do, and make sure you make EVERY follow-up check-up and/or treatment for the next year.

I don't think I was diagnosed with HPV, but I did have dysplasia. I had two colposcopies (not real comfortable) and then follow-up PAP/gyno exams every three months for a year with a specialist. It's nothing to play around with, get it taken care of while it's early.

Well getting gardasil is supposed to prevent it. I don't know what your doctor told you. But, I would stray away from sex until fully treated that is your best option.

I hate to have to say this, but you probably got it from him. Unless, of course, you were not faithful. But, I'm not going to even speculate any further.
