I'm planning on doing the NROTC program at USD in San Diego. They can guarantee flight training through the Marines only but their base locations suck!! Do Marine pilots fly along with the Navy? If so will there be more options for me as far as duty stations. My first choice was the Navy but they won’t guarantee flight training.

The Marines have their own bases they fly from. Only when they deploy do they fly together off carriers. There might be some Navy pilots at Mirimar Ca.Stationed with the Marines.

I work as a civilian for the Marines here in Quantico, VA. Marines are at navy bases, just like how marines are at army bases like Arberdeen Proving Grounds in MD.

The real question is: Why do you think these places suck? Miramar, Beaufort Air Station are beautiful places to be stationed at. Plus, any of these places are better than the one in Al Asad Iraq.

Nope. Marines have their own MCAS. once in a while you will have a Marine flying in a Navy Squadron( Blue Angels) but it is not the norm.

Well each Division has an Air Wing attached to it. Also each Division has Air Officers attached to each ground unit to coordinate air cover. Some are attached to Naval Air Stations, and Aircraft Carriers, but I wouldn't say most.
