Hello:
"Popcorn Lung,"is the lung disease that you are referring to that ALOT of people are just thinking is a great big joke or a prank to get people not to eat butter flavored microwave popcorn, but it's not a joke or a prank! There have been proven medical cases where people who have worked in popcorn companies that are exposed to the butter flavoring which looks like sawdust when it is mixed in,have inhaled this substance and alot of people have gotten lung cancer from it.
I saw on Good Morning America this morning where this guy talked about suffering from,"popcorn lung,"and he thought his doctor was joking when she asked him if he ate microwave popcorn.
When he told her that he did eat it,she sent in some sort of environmental expert that measured the toxins that microwave buttered popcorn emits while it is cooking. This doctor said that over time, people who are exposed to this have to have lung transplants, especially if they worked in a factory exposed to these chemicals,or if they made it at home, and inhaled the popcorn butter scent while it was cooking in the microwave.
I used to eat popcorn, but after this,I will not eat it anymore. I know,I know, people will say that just about anything will kill you now a days, but it is medical reports like this that have CONFIRMED documented medical cases, that I do take very seriously for my health and safety and my family's health and safety!

It doesn't seem all that unlikely that the butter flavoring on popcorn could be harmful.. it obviously doesn't have any or much real butter in it.
Make popcorn in an air popper or on the stove... it tastes better anyway. Then you can season it however you want, with whatever you want.. including real butter. All in not much more time than it takes microwave popcorn to pop.

this is finished. turn on your range precise upload slightly oil in an outstanding sized pan and enable it warmth up. meanwhile get a separate field to flow the popcorn over after it pops shrink open the precise of the microwave popcorn bag. Take a pair of kernels out of the bag and place interior the oil. as quickly as those kernels pop pour the contents of the bag which comprise the butter and cover the pan. as quickly as you hear the corn start to pop shake the pan. end once you do no longer hear to any extent further pops and flow the popped corn to the hot field to sidestep burning and enable cool. This does artwork I surely have finished it.

I saw this too.
I just open the kitchen window when I make popcorn.
Or, you could ask your doctor if it's safe or not.
That news report is totally going to kill the popcorn industry.

He worked in a buttered popcorn factory and that's how he got exposed. It hasn't necessarily been proven that it would harm you from eating it. however if you breath it and it's bad i suggest investing in an air popper and melting your own butter cause i won't be eating it.

well, i also read an article on this. frankly, i don't believe it. it seems like you can get cancer by doing anything these days. remember when the study came out about cell phones and cancer. eat whatever you want. just eat in moderation. that's good enough. i wouldn't worry about it.

I think it's only from a certain brand. Rodenbrokenbutter (sp?) some weird name like that.
The other brands should be fine.
EDIT:
(Check to see if the brand you're using has diacetyl).
