Anyone who says we have not accomplished anything, watches too much of what is reported on the news. You could fill volumes on what is not reported. You only see the news that sells. It they told you all the good things that are happening, nobody would be interested. They want to see all the prisoner abuse, and death counts. That's what sells so that's what you see.

If you think nothing has been accomplished, my guess is you have not been there. Ask a vet if we are accomplishing our mission. Ask if we have improved life for the Iraqis. Most of the country is free from violence. There are a few hot spots like the Sunni Triangle. The news focuses on that.

Do you hear about the schools we are building, the water treatment facilities, fixing the power grids, roads, orphanages? I doubt it. You may be surprised to hear this but the vast majority of Iraqis are thankful that we are there.

Some may answer it was not for oil. Let's recap. The oil fields are worth something like 17 trillion dollars. If American oil companies manage the oil fields in Iraq they make allot of money! The oil presently not on the market is driving the price of oil up because of the high demand. You and I are paying for that. Also the longer the war goes on in Iraq, the more in debt the US gets, which sets us up for the North American Union.

Well we haven't really recouped a lot of oil since it is a fraction of pre-war levels, so I'm not sure that we are getting that.

War profiteering: check the revenue of Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Bechtel. Great years these have been!

Training and recruiting grounds of Al Queda.

Iraq went from an unfree state controlled by a dictator to a failed state in a civil war.

The United States has solidified itself further as the policemen of the world.

More countries than ever before will adjust their politics, foreign policy, culture, and propaganda to appease our appetite for power.

The United States has frightened all other countries into being friendly with us, and they will do what we ask. They will be afraid to cross us.

We run this planet now. All its resources are ours for the asking.

We have never been in a better position to do what we think is best--especially what is best for us.

My Edit on this: Remember OPEC? We don't need those jerks anymore! We can circumvent those guys and charge ourselves whatever we want for oil.

And I'm sure those WMDs are going to show up any second now. PS: Any of you moronic countries out there that still have a drop of oil under your sand, get ready for us!! Cause we are on our way. Go Dick!

What oil? I don't see any massive shipments coming from Iraq.

Contrary to much of the left, it was never about oil. It was about WMDs and the threat by Saddam.

Oops. So we were wrong. Bottom line, it was a mistake. However we are there now. It would be even a worse mistake to just pull out.

Nothing but $500,000,000,000 of debt and growing by another $200,000,000,000 by the end of '08.

edit: as for the oil situation, people need to realize that it isn't about the oil NOW, but about the oil in 10 years when Saudi and Kuwaiti production is about 1/2 of what it is now, due to declining reserves.
