getting out of the army before your term is up is not a bad thing, and it is do-able without getting thrown in jail, ect.

so why when someone on here asks how to do it, most reply with OMG YOUR GOING TO GET THROWN IN JAIL ...

i have lived the army life and know for a fact that they dont do crap to you but take some of your pay and discharge you..... its not that big of a deal these days. EVEN IN A TIME OF WAR.

so stop telling lies ppl, GETTING OUT OF THE ARMY IS POSSIBLE AND VERY EASY THESE DAYS.

There are lots of ways to get out of the Military prior to your contract date. Most of them ARE bad. You can be thrown in Jail depending on what you are doing to get out. I sit on the Administration Separation Board, and put people out of the Marines. This can be for numerous reasons. You can eat your way out, you can fail physical fitness, you can use drugs and pop positive, you can go AWOL, and in MOST instances they get a other than honorable discharge. That is not good, it stays with you for a long time, and can hinder future employment. Also, if you have violated the UCMJ, there is court-martial and possibly jail time (in the brig). If someone wants to get out of the Military, my best advice is ask to leave. This is done through Administrative Separation, with a General under Honorable conditions, Discharge.

People are not telling Lies but letting them know what could happen. In a lot of cases it is as simple as you say but in other cases it can be worse. so why tell some one it could be hunky Dori and see them go AWOL and screw up there life when there are better ways to get out of the military and be discharged with something bad. i know and understand that some people are not cut out for service but just Cutting and running is a BS way of getting out if you commit to something you should finish it and leave under the best circumstances. for the most part it is only a couple of years and you are done and none the worse for ware. It is people that encourage them to just go AWOL or do something stupid that should stop the lying. and tell them they can do what they want because they are free Americans. truth be told they signed a legal and binding contract to do the service and should be held accountable for it

Welll...we aren't technically in a time of war yet...because congress hasn't declared war. They are also a lot more aware and understanding of peoples family situations. It's easy to get out but people look down on you a lot...and in some cases it stays with you for the rest of your life. So all in all, the person getting out just has to think really hard about it. Is it really worth it to to get out early if you're going to be known as somebody who couldn't handle it for the rest of your life? It's understandable with certain situations why people want to get out as far as medical reasons or they need to take care of a family member....but if somebody just wants to get out because they miss their family or they are tired of being told what to do...yeah I'm going to be rude to them...because everybody in the military feels like that...nobody forced you to sign your contract...you knew what you were getting into. And if you didn't you're a dumb a**.

Yes you correct but the object is not to get booted out, Yea it happens all the time to people look i was in the navy for 20yrs and I saw many get out before there time. Just part of every day life is your life over when that happens no way just something has happened, yes there are many ways to do it so I can relate to your question. Plus I work for the govt at a naval shipyard and I have a supervisor who got booted from navy for smoking weed so yea its no big deal after it happens.

Sure, it's easy to do. but if that discharge does not say" Honorable, expiration of term of service," you just pissed away many good job opportunities which may come your way.

Maybe the Army won't do anything to you, they won't have to. You will have screwed yourself.
