I mean, you don't NOT believe - so why would you ever come here asking about atheism? What possible justification can you have for discussing something outside your interests or experiences?

atheists ask about Christianity and they don't believe and it is ok, so why can't Christians ask about atheism. Oh I get it - that is what you meant, huh?

BL: I was once an atheist. Raised in a religious setting of my extended family, Yet mother a universalist existentialist and father a "who gives a ****?" Agnostic.

So, for me - I communicate with the Atheists and the God-haters here because someone did the same for me. Someone took time to address my unbelief and challenge it.

Although I am now firmly convinced that God exists and is who the Bible says he is - I realize that not everyone else does. In the spirit of Blaise Pascal - I challenge Atheists: what if you are wrong and I am right? Isn't it worth taking the challenge at face value?

If Atheists are wrong: I've still lived a good life and enjoy the fellowship of other people who love Christ. The End.

If the Atheists are wrong and I'm right: there is a destination for us both. I hope to pursuade the atheists and Christ-haters NOT to wind up in that place of no hope.

The Christians who do this needless to say have not have been given any concern with hypocrisy, and no familiarity with the Poisoning the properly fallacy. in addition they lack a familiarity with easily historic past, and not what they have been advised on Fox information. Stalin did not use atheism as an excuse- he not at all even stated he replaced into an atheist. He replaced into raised interior the Russian Orthodox Church, and replaced into easily a deist in a while. the only reason that he embraced STATE atheism and tried to do away with the Church is via the fact he knew, firsthand, how plenty economic and political capability the Orthodox Church held in Russia and he did not choose opposition. no person kills interior the call of atheism- that's impossible to kill interior the call of the lack of ability of a single theory. Stalin killed to hold a capability base. Hitler, mutually as a Christian, replaced right into a whacko. One whacko Christian (or many, pondering the Crusades, the Inquisition, and so on) does not poison the barrel to any extent further than one whacko atheist does. in spite of each and every little thing- Hitler, Mao, and Stalin all had dark HAIR. by ability of that good judgment, all dark haired human beings could desire to be EVIL. @antie pantie- there is not any such element as "atheistic communism". Communism is a socio-financial equipment, without relation to atheism. curiously you're blind to not basically historic past yet in addition economics. Bravo. @RJ long- so which you're protecting this logical fallacy with yet another- the tu quoque fallacy? In different words, the "you too" fallacy? As in, "yet they're doing it TOO"? all and sundry who makes use of that argument is unsuitable, no remember what ingredient, and responding in sort makes you basically AS unsuitable and ignorant.

Of course we as believers would be interested in discussing atheism. One reason is to engage in dialogue another is to circumvent the hostility often directed at believers by atheists, or try to discover the reason for it.

Why do you come on R&S asking questions of believers? To try and figure out where they are coming from and why they do what they do and why they think what they think, I imagine. Also, any ideaology will effect the culture and society in which it is propogated. It is often stated that believers want to impose their beliefs on the rest of society, but I often find that atheism wants to impose its non-belief idealogies on society as well.

User NewCatholic stated eloquently:

"For those who say that Atheists do not try to force their beliefs on others, wake up smell the coffee. Laws are passed for abortion, Laws are passed to ban even a moment of silence in schools because it could result in kids praying, evolution is the only creation theory taught. (Catholic schools teach both) they are trying to cleanse the society of any faith that they can. I can't count how many times I have seen Atheists post things like "We need to burn all religious books" or "We need to ban all Religion"

Is baning religion not forcing your lack of belief on us?"

We come to engage each other.

The same goes for atheists. Why are they here? and in the R & S section? When they know the majority is talking about God when they don't even believe in it. I am here to learn and let learn. Get different opinions and point of views. I don't bash anybody or anyone. I may not agree but I do agree to disagree for we all have our differences and I can only respect that.

I was once a Christian seeking answers, and often when you are raised in this mindset it is hard to overcome deep seeded beliefs so the questioning may be their way of finding answers. I'm sure some just like to "stir up the pot" and get reactions, but I see non-Christians doing the same... so it goes.

Perhaps people like to get the views of others who have opposing views? You can learn a lot by understanding where others come from.
