What is the difference between a ghost and a soul?

There is no punch line, this is the question.

AND why do people get teased if they believe in ghosts but not so much if they believe in souls?

Ghost, and Souls, are two in the same,, most people equate Ghost, as fear, I always say to these people why? where as Religious or Spiritualism belief that spirits of the dead communicate with the living,, we sometimes say " the Father, Son , and Holy Ghost,, others say The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, But, some how Ghost, some people relate it to morbid thougths,, however , they are one of the same,, and they try to communicate with us,, There is a myth,, that a Ghost, will stick around to haunt only because some believe they are earth bound,, meaning they are stuck between the body and the soul,,these are some others belief,, but as you well know when we pass on unto the next deminsion,, we are either taken to a place of rest ,,or taken to the heavens gate,, But to answer your question: A ghost is basically someone who lived on earth, but when their body died their spirit remained or again as I said remained or was bound to earth,
they may appear as wispy mist seen only out of the corner of your eye, or as various solid looking figures that will mysteriously disappear in front of you. The most tradtional belief about ghost is that when someone dies they are either too attached to the earth " didnt want to leave their treasure,or want revenge" Or that they die a sudden death and are in a state of confusioin not having realized that they are dead. Many researchers believe that ghost are not the souls of the dead but rather are telepathic messages from their lingering bodiless minds! And then there are other theories that these percipients will unconsciously create a ghost to satisfy their own emtional needs. Recognizing ghost , and the best way to tell is if your home has a ghost " if you don't actually see it" is to trust your feeings. If there is an area of your home that always feels cool or damp, and there is no physical source of the coldness, this could be evidence of the presence of a ghost. Also, if there is a place or location in your home where you feel physically heavy and where its difficult to breathe this can also indicate an earthbound spirit. This is why some people get teased as they do not have the knowledge , so what a better way to come back at someone the reasons they truly havent a clue,, and are stuck in their beliefs on one issue,, as they truly don't know!

Ghosts seem to be souls who have been permitted to wander the earth for reasons which are probably case by case. Ghosts rarely hurt people because they understand the heavy toll of sin. We all are spiritual beings, it's a matter of word play. Perception from a single point creates a soul. We all have souls, and we become ghosts if we do not find salvation.

Jesus is a good one to talk to about this stuff. :D

A soul is alive, and inside your living body, and has a place. A ghost is basically a lost soul. Sort of the same thing, except for the dead part. Glad to see you have an open mind. :o)

Genesis 2
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

A ghost or spirit (ie: holy ghost, holy spirit) is a person without a body. Either they haven't got one yet, or they died so the spirit and body are separated. The Holy Ghost doesn't have one yet, thats why he can "come upon us" or "fill us".

James 2
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

when a person is born, his soul is born with him.
the soul remains as an integral part of him till he dies. the body remains and disintegrates , whereas the soul rises to heaven, to its Maker.
as for a ghost, no one has asserted its existence .
there are terror stories about ghosts, but we know they are works of the imagination.
