why do people fear death? do you? would having your soul/mind/consciousness destroyed or being forced to exist eternally (anywhere) be worse?

why do people fear the utter destruction of themselves? isn't death really the opposite of everything we understand to be life, and is it not a wonderful thing to be released from existence entirely after having lived a full life?

I can't understand why so many people are obsessed with death or life after death. We are all going to die. I'd rather spend my time here enjoying this life and getting the most out of it because no matter what you THINK you know, no one really does know what happens after we die.

I don't know. I have never died.

Personally, I don't fear death, but I do try to get the most out of the time I have here.

I would say people fear death, because it is real easy to fear that which we don't fully understand. Plus, the church has force fed many of us enough propaganda that it almost seems natural to fear death. By having people fear death they are easier to control if you can convince them of eternal life in the after-life.

I don't fear death but I fear how I will die. I don't like this not knowing. I sometimes hope this is it and there is nothing else. I don't think I would want to live this life again.

it does sound like a nice relief personally. i guess there would be less fear surrounding it, if someone actually knew for SURE what happens after you die, speculation simply isn't enough. either way i'm not afraid.

It's bad to suffer, and it's bad to lose someone close to you. However, after death is just like before birth. Non-existence is simply that.

Actually, death is to be overcome, and not submitted to. There is no shortage of work on earth.

This world is a tree baring fruit, we are the fruit. Some of us realize we are drawn up from the pit, and the reality of salvation. When you're saved by Jesus, dying to the flesh is the wonderful rebirth into the kingdom of light.

Ask Jesus about it, he'll answer you.

life is beautiful because God wished us to realize its wonder.
death is a relief from the troubles of living.
it's beautiful , but we arent allowed to seek it. it will come when God wishes. we shouldnt be afraid of death bec it takes us to eternity. if we sin we must ask God's forgiveness so as to be accepted in Heaven.
