Once saved always saved is a false doctrine. It is a doctrine of men which nulifies the word of God, and it was never heard of until the 16th century.

If I am asked "Are you saved?" by a fundamentalist, as a Catholic I reply:
"As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)."

It is amazing how many people are dancing around this question or just flat out not answering it.

You people are doing good works in order to gain rewards in Heaven? That sounds rather self centered and greedy to me. Not much love there.

And if you do not feed the hungry, Jesus will be disappointed that you did not use your talents, but give you a hug anyway?!?! I thought you people knew your Scripture better than that. The man who buried his talent had the talent taken away from him and thrown out into the darkness. No hugs for him.

Now to answer your question. When the scholar asked Jesus how to gain eternal life, Jesus gave an answer that the scholar (and all of us) should know from the Old testament, "You shall love your God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength and your neighbor as yourself" Loving your neighbor means feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick, etc.

No love? No eternal life.

When you do these deeds then you also do it unto the Lord as well. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This instruction was given in the bible for one that was fasting in Isaiah Chapter 58--read it. God has the last say so over any man soul and God alone can say if a person refuses to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit the sick if they should enter into heaven.

Feeding the hungry and taking care of the sick etc. has nothing to do with you Salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 Tell us that we are saved by God's grace through our faith. The works we do are for rewards not for Salvation. Salvation is a free gift of God bought and paid for by the Blood of Jesus on Calvary all we have to do is except it. And yes once you except it, it is yours forever, John 3:16. This does not mean that you can go and do anything you want afterwards as many will say, because 11Corinthians 5:17 tells us that if any man be of God he is a new creature

Everyone is saved. Jesus died for the sins of the whole world and every knee will bow(in love, not in fear). I think the bible masks this truth a little because God knows how it could hinder our growth in faith as some(many) would take advantage. All of these debates about who is saved, at what age, what if they never heard, how good were they, would all be answered if people would come to the truth and know that all are saved, and come to a loving relationship with God because of the cross.

If you don't care about others how can you be saved?? If the spirit of God flows thru you how can you not care about others. I think this is a good Prayer to say right now, Dear Jesus I just pray right now that you forgive me of all my sins and come into my heart and save me. I believe that you came to earth and died on a cross, and then rose from the grave the third day to be a perfect sacrifice for my sins. I willingly give my life to you and promise to serve you with all my heart. Please make me one of your children in the name of Jesus I pray Amen... If you Prayed this Prayer with a sincere heart truly believing in Jesus you are now a child of the King. Praise the Lord, If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email, May God Bless You

feeding the hungry does not necessarily mean that you actually visit a shelter and offer your services, it speaks of the general things you do like being kind to the people around you, givng good advice to someone in need of it etc. These things can happen anywhere, shelters are just more obvious but you can never tell when you are being a blessing to someone. It all has to do with your intents.

read 1 corinthians 13

God bless

I don't believe that a person will make it to Heaven because Jesus warns us in the Book of Revelation, that if we are lukewarm, He will spit us out of His mouth. Being lukewarm shows us and God that we really do not believe in God and we have grieved the Holy Spirit by not being obedient to God. Also the Bible refers to our names being blotted out of the Book of Life, which means, that at one time, our name was written in it and it was erased due to our own behavior. One thing we must preach first. Just because we are good, does not get us into Heaven. It is a gift from God and we receive it by turning from our sins and receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is called being "Born Again, But once we receive God's Salvation, then it is up to us to keep it. We will be held accountable for our own actions, but the good news is this, God gives us the Holy Ghost to help us live the life. The Book of Ephesians teach us how to live to keep the fullness of the Holy Ghost.

Once you are saved, Jesus said "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:28).

Jesus does not save you and then let you become unsaved. There is no such thing. Once He has promised you eternal life, He won't take it back. But, if you don't do the good things He wants us to do for our fellow man, you will have to answer for it before Him. And you will have few rewards in heaven.

When you are saved, you are forgiven of all your sins. Then you are admitted into the Kingdom of Heaven. From that point on, it is up to you to live the life to stay in the kingdom or fall out of the grace of God by not doing what He commands. No one is saved once and forever unless they are dead.

I'm an agnostic, so I don't necessarily believe (or disbelieve) in Heaven. Actually, the belief system that makes the most sense to me is the Hindu religion. You just keep getting reincarnated until you "get it right" (like The Indigo Girls make fun of in "Galileo"). With that belief system, your actions (or lack thereof) are far more important than what you proclaim yourself to be when it comes to being rewarded in the afterlife.
