So yesterday my neck started hurting. I didn't think much of it until it kept on hurting and when I felt my neck in the front there was a lump right near the middle of my neck kind of behind one of the muscles. It's still there today, and the lump hurts when I touch it and also when I swallow. Any ideas of what it could be? Should I get an appointment at the health clinic down here at college and have them look at it?

Yes, this needs to be evaluated by a doctor to see what they think is going on.

Yes, absolutely get to the health clinic and show it to them. It probably is nothing more than a swollen gland, but you are so smart to have a professional take a look at it. Good luck and God bless.

Yup.. get it checked out.. Use moist heat on the area for 20 minutes a couple times a day. ( a heat pad, or a moist towel in a microwave for a few seconds)

Yeah, get an appointment. It could be a goiter or thyroglossal duct cyst. You want to be seen ASAP, because if you find thyroglossal duct cysts at your age, it could mean trouble.
