I'm going with HOMEOSTATIC.

Homeostasis is the process of keeping things in a normal range. Positive and negative feedback systems can be a part of homeostasis.

Negative feedback applies most closely to hormonal systems in physiology. Homeostatic mechanisms are probably the right answer though I wonder about "compensatory" mechanisms. This sounds more like physiology than anatomy.
