I think I have a cold again. I just had a cold I believe at the end of July or early August. I was in a different city in Michigan then. Now I am back in Detroit, and I know the temperature all over the US has been pretty "un-normal." Anyway, since I moved back in my dorm, which was 4 days ago, my air and window has not been working. And while trying to get the RA's to get in touch with people to get it fixed, I have been sleeping in a stuffy room. Can that be the cause of why I am getting signs of another cold? By staying in the stuffy room while it's really hot out? I mean, I'm not suffucating or anything, it's just realllly stuffy in here. I woke up this morning to a stuffy nose, and it was a little bit cooler outside with the little air I could get from the window. But has anybody ever gotten a cold after just getting over another one?

its not uncommon to have a relapse. you may have picked up a different type of cold when you got back to Detroit. so whilst your immune system dealt with the first one, it will have to get ri of the 2nd one too i'm afraid

It's very possible.
As I'm sure you know, when you get a cold, your immune system is taxed while fighting it off. By the time you get over a cold, your immune system is very weakened, so it's very easy to catch something else immediately after.

It's very possible it was a different strain of cold virus that you caught the second time, OR it may be that you didn't actually completely kill off the first cold, and the traveling may have worn down your immune system enough where the cold re-surfaced. Either way, it should pass again soon... and you may want to try some immune system boosters like Elderberry, Colostrum, or mushrooms (Reishi, Maitake, or Shiitake). Good luck!

It sounds like it's been awhile since your last cold, so I would say yes, you could have another one. The whole reason we get sick is so we won't catch it again. The running nose, sneezing, coughing and phlegm are all things that keep more viruses from entering our body. But you said your cold was about a month ago, and all those symptoms are gone. It's possible to have a new one.

There are hundreds of versions of influenza ("the flu" or "the common cold"). Once you get sick from one version, your body is immune to it. But since there's hundreds of different strains, you're always at risk of catching a new one. The only way to prevent them is to get a flu shot. Communities usually offer free flu shots a certain day of the year. Doctors can give you one too, for a fee.

The flu can be airborne. The best way to avoid it is to keep your windows OPEN, so fresh air can come and go. It's a myth that cold air gives you the cold. In the wintertime people spend more time indoors with the windows shut, and that's why they catch more flus in the winter.

Yes, it is common. Your immune systems probably a little lower than usual as you have had a cold recently. You need to up your vitamin intake-try more fruit and veg and a multivitamin every day. I went through a phase of getting cold after cold for ages too, and was under stress, so its def a factor. Get well soon

Different germs.
You won't catch the old one again, or the one you have now.
You can only have each one, once.
No second helpings.
