I need to gain weight, but I don't want a heart attack. So besides donuts and brownies with orange soda, how can I gain some weight?

nuts, nut butters (2tbsp about 180cal), dried fruit, protein shakes (whey protein is the best natural gainer), fish (especially salmon - it has a lot of healthy fat in it), old fashioned oatmeal with honey or eggs and avocados, foods prepared with olive oil (one tablespoon has 120cal), bananas (one medium has about 100cal) etc.
to gain weight basically you have to consume more calories than spend during the day.

I am in the same boat as you. I need to gain weight.

I was told you need more protein in your diet to gain weight. Now look at the foods that have protein in it. Hambuger has protein, but a LOT of fat to go with it.

This is why I am skinny. I try not to eat a lot of meat and fatty foods.

Around the end of this month, I am going to start drinking my Herbailfe protein shakes after my meals, to gain weight. Now I will get all that protein I need, with out all that fat.

I put together a web site that will have people like you and I, that can team up together to encourage each other to reach our healthy goals.

Here is a link to this new web site I put together. Keep in mind, I just put it up. Scroll down to the forums and look under "Healthy Goals & weigh ins". There you will see my post about gaining weight.

Meats, especially the fatty ones, for protein... but make sure to balance it out with fruits and veggies. Lay off the fatty sugar stuff, like the donuts, brownies and sodas. Sodas are NOT healthy, will attribute to bad skin and sugars will age your skin! Good luck!

I would say nuts and fish. This gains weight AND improves health. Don't forget to eat things you need to stay healthy.

Avocado everything. It's yum and really fattening but in a good way. I'd go for more carbs (but good ones: cereals, pasta, etc.) Try to up your portions gradually. Bananas as in-between-meals snacks. This is one "problem" I wouldn't mind a bit of!!

Eat tons and tons of lean meat. Chicken, steak, hamburger, etc. As well as more fruits and vegetables, supplemented by working out.
