God isn't putting us through anything. As I believe in reincarnation, we decide when, and to who we will be born to, what psychic gifts we bring with us, and what kind of karma we need to work on. We come here as it is the quickest way to learn what we need to know. We are all children of God, and he doesn't know what we will decide, that's why we have free will. We can choose at any time to believe or not to. He does not force us to be re-born, nor does he force us to remain in spirit, even though staying spirit is a lot more comfy than being human.
Blessed Be

Does the answer really matter? Why question God? Even His foolishness is above man's greatest wisdom or knowledge. A newborn baby would not understand the thoughts of a wise adult; neither can we understand the mind of God. It is a dangerous place to question his actions.

Not everyone is going to heaven, we were created to live on earth. There is no fiery place of torment. Just the grave.
Just because you have a window in your room doesn't mean you constantly have to be staring out of it. God can see the future when he chooses to. God did create us with free will, he lets us decide whether or not to follow him. So as not to interfere with our free will, he chooses not to look at our individual futures.
Yes, I have scriptural basis for these statements, but you're not interested in that I'm sure :0)

There is no test. Yes God knows, but it's not rocket science to figure it out. We are born into sin, no one merits Heaven. Do you think you're neutral and God is seeing what you will do? But you're right, God should have pre-sorted us -- all into one big trash can, bound for Hell. You've taken the grace that he has given you and you've told God that He owes you eternal life. Shame on you, He owes you nothing.

(Some) Christians like to compare free will with a parent letting a child make his/her own mistakes. What they don't seem to understand is that their version of omnipotence allows the kid to play in traffic during rush hour.
God 'knows' some of us are doomed -- hey, He made the rules after all -- and chooses not to do anything.
That's a bizarre sort of love.

Great question. Why indeed.
Obviously 'god' is a sadist and a narcissist and ... Richard said it so much better in The God Delusion: "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."
So now you know why 'he' has to go through the pretence in letting us think we have 'free will' and or the ability to 'affect our destiny' – it’s all part of the game; the dance of death.

You answer is based on the premise that God knows who will use their free will for good and who will not. God does not know that-- that is up to us. He has a place for all of us in Heaven, it is up to us to strive to make it there.

What I particularly like is when Biblegod puts a child into a home which is Christian and physically abusive (not to mention emotionally too). The kid grows up in a hellish environment and finally gets out. They reject the crap that he/she grew up with but they continue to bear the scars of their childhood. Then when they die, Biblegod tortures them for all eternity.
