LDS mom. Just curious, but why would you convert to a religion that is obviously not true? At least New Testament and Old Testament believers have 2000 plus years of obscurity and historical and archiological validation.....You Mormons have nothing but proof of lies to go on and the religion is new enough to proove that. Are you a little bit scared of the world, perhaps a bit slow???

Regardless the histories, both good and bad, that happened in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the one true denominator is ever strong, and that is this is the true restored Church on earth having the authorized priesthood authority of God with all its saving ordinances. So we active members continue to believe as we will, having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ of His mercies and great Atonement--despite all the naysayers and vitriolic replies given against this Church.

I am not directly connected, but I happen to be a third cousin, five times removed of Joseph Smith, Jr. I am a convert to this Church and will remain ever so.

As for Tashunka Witco (Crazy Horse) and his story of the cow from a Mormon wagon train starting a war I recommend a complete study of both sides of the equation. Once a history student learns of the atrocities committed against Mormons for the sake of their religion it is small wonder why an insignificant cow might bring about a Plains war.

Forest, you make it appear that you know all the answers pertaining to the LDS faith, yet you are unaware of the Mormon cow story. Start reading some history and slow down on your accusations against the Church.

I am native-American too, having been born in the New England States of America. While I'm familiar with the Seneca tribe (of the Iroquois Confederacy) of New York, I am unfamiliar with a Sencea that Crazy Horse mentioned. Regardless, that would be a mix of Indian heritage because of the distance between the Lakota and the Seneca and Huron Nations. Correct me if I'm wrong about that.

To summarize, you anti-Mormon people won't give up on pointing your fingers and castigating the Mormon faith because of the main influence who has you in his grips--Lucifer! I am amazed that you can't see through it.

I have ancestors on both of my parents sides going all the way back to Jospeph Smith's time. In fact 2 were his personal friends and body guards. They were also both polygamists. I no longer consider myself Mormon, but I can't say that is really a main reason I left the church.

No, my ancestors were Irish, English and German... Protestants and Catholics. There might even be a few Aussie convicts in there.

But I am a Mormon.

Mountain Meadows Massacre was an evil, horrible thing, for which the (spirits of the) participants will probably feel anguish and remorse for as long as the evil effects of their actions continue in this world.

However, MMM was NEVER sanctioned by the leadership of the Church... It goes down in history as a horrific chapter in Mormon history. This is what the Church has to say about it:

My great-great grandfather is named twice in the D&C (see the link below). He had 8 wives and I believe it was 36 kids. He went across the plains to Salt Lake and helped establish the church out there.

Gun slingers? I have no idea.

Yes, I am a current, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I am not a Mormon and don't know if any of my ancestors were ever involed in the LDS church. It isn't viewed so kindly here.

Gunslingers -- lol

I carry a gun does that make me a gunslinger?

My grandmother's grandfather had 3 wives at one time before it was illegal. (not all of my ancestors were black)

I love the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

And to even bring up more "stuff" I am glad for the 1978 revelation so that I can hold the priesthood -- I have a strong testimony of this revelation and God's love for me and my people within and without His church.

Nope I am a convert. I wish I had pioneer ancestors though!! But by doing my genealogy, I have found ancestors in Jackson County, Missouri around 1840. LOL! Do you think they are rolling over in their graves now?! And yes, I submitted all of their names to the temple.
