I heard today of an incident in Ireland where some vigilantes got hold of a drug dealer, Tar & Feathered him and left him tied to a lamp post. Is the general feeling out there that more of this will happen if the law is not changed to help the victim of a crime and not the waster who committed it.

Come on UK lets reclaim our streets. Good idea or not.

I can see it coming. The good news for those who do it is that they will likely face no serious criminal penalty. After all, they would be doing no more than the criminals who were tarred and feathered by them, would they? They would be taking on the role of criminals and the current criminal justice system does not, as we know all too well, punish criminals. It punishes the victims.

Those who deem it wise to hamstring the police and judicial system need to wake up to the fact that they are driving the public's opinion towards vigilantism. From there it is a very short step into anarchy.

The law and politics is a frustrating place and it can infuriate, but what makes the Lynch-mob an effective form of law enforcement.
How long until a member of your family is wrongly accused and 'reprimanded' or we are all throwing nooses over the nearest tree because 'we don't like the look of our neighbour'

Everything possible should be done to keep us all safe, and the system is certainly not perfect, but anarchy, mob-rule and survival of the fittest, could never be a preferable answer

They have been doing that in Northern Ireland for years.

Mainly though the dealer gets targeted by the competion who want his patch, they try to hide their agtions by pretending to be concerned citizens.

Both the I Ran Away and U.V.F are big into the drugs business, gotta keep their members paid now there is no more terror war. They cant exactly sign on the dole!!

People who commit such an abominable act of barbarity are no better than the original criminals in my mind. I am against vigilantiism in any shape or form, we have a very good police force which if people cooperated with could be the finest in the world!
