i would prefer to modify the scr so it could use a heat sink, and maybe change the transformer, and add more caps so it could hold a better charge and also cahrge faster and make a birhger flash ( i know the tube could overheat)

If you add more capacitors, don't look at the bare flash tube without eye protection because it will explode if you send enough current through it. You can't make it very much brighter, unfortunately, because there are only so many electrons that can be ionized -- you need a bigger tube, which will require a higher voltage trigger pulse.

If you are going to all that trouble why not do the work on a regular camera, not a disposable. They have much better optics and have the capability to accept a new roll of film when the first one is used up. Disposables do not.

There are web sites for people who make wildlife snapshot camera mods to add more capability to an existing camera. Many of the sites cover the work you are talking about.

use a stronger battery and a use a dc transformer the kind u well find in a radio and a weak light bulb
