depends. in the first couple of phases, no. he won't be allowed off base, nor overnight. Later on, when he has reached the right Phase, he will be able to spend weekends off base, so long as he doesn't have duty.

depending on the A school policy, it could take 6-8 weeks before he is allowed off base.

Additionally, mandatory study periods are not unheard of, and the entire class could get their liberty revoked if someone screws up.

As long as he is not in basic, yes. Our daughter was out almost every night. And there really is not much to do around there.

We lived 2 miles from base for 20 years. When he gets off base, be sure he goes strictly by the rules on where he can't go. The whole area right outside the base is off limits to Navy (Not that there is much there anymore).

Most of the Sailors go to Gurnee Mills. There are shows and alot of restaurants there.

Also, if you can't get into Navy Lodge, stay away from the hotels in North Chicago. Candlewood suites is nice and so is Crossland Chicago - Waukegan. About $65 a night, but ask for Military rate.

Yes you can but remember that he is in school and you guys may not have a whole lot of time to spend with each other. Now keep in mind that the first 30 days he is confined to Post and in order for him to even get passes he needs to conform to all regs and basically keep his nose clean. They hardly ever issue overnight passes until the end. But remember, just because you are there doesnt mean that his COC will give him a pass. I know that is mean. But thats what happened with me. I would just wait till exodus or towards the end of his training.

Yes, but you have to understand,

That depending on how long he has been at school, there are certain restrictions in place.

The first 30 days of school, he will not be allowed off base at all.

Afterwards, he will be allowed off base at times, but still have a curfew every night.

So he need to ask his chain of command , for the time periods when each will be in effect.

There is not much use for you to visit, if he is confined to the base..

Yes. Since you are his lawful wife and he is on active duty, you can even stay the Navy Lodge at Great Lakes for less than a regular hotel room will cost you. Link to their web site is below.

probably not because of this no funds available

Jones' panel recommended scrapping Baghdad's national police force and starting over.

The U.S. has spent $19.2 billion developing Iraq's forces and plans to spend another $5.5 billion next year. According to Jones' study, the Iraqi military comprises more than 152,000 service members operating under the Ministry of Defense, while the Ministry of Interior oversees some 194,000 civilian security personnel, including police and border control.

The review is one of several studies Congress commissioned in May, when it agreed to fund the war for several more months but demanded that the Bush administration and outside groups assess U.S. progress in the war.
