Salvage is what to look for. In our area, they have huge yards filled with windows, fixtures, sinks, toilets, moldings, bannisters, just about anything torn out of old buildings and houses that are being remodeled.

You answered your question already.

Forget cheap. They let air in and just plain wouldn't stand up. You're going to wind up with a pile a chunk that you'll be sorry for later.

Find out where these warehouses are. You'd be surprised what you can find. The things they have at these places may even change your ideas about your remodeling project.
Haven't seen them myself, but have seen on TV. They deal more in old collectibles.

However, there are places that sell windows, doors (new) at places the deal with such things. Can't sell for whatever the reason. May be there last years models, stuff like that. Have been to places like that. Many choices. May not have as many as you need, but certainly worth looking at. You never know.

Cheap isn't always good.

Windows are important and you need quality ones.

That said, look at a wholesale place. Habitat for Humanity has a ReNew store in our area where you can get windows and such that have been "salvaged" from other places.

Contact the local building companies in your area. They know exactly where those places are. You can get cabinets, rugs, windows, doors, etc there. Every area is different depending on laws of the state.
