Well, there's always the dictionary. But I suppose you mean in the context of Religion & Spirituality.
To me, having a "purpose in life" means leaving the world a little better off than if I had never been born. That is, being worth the air and water and food and space I took up.
When I was working full time, my primary purpose was to be a good legal secretary, serve the needs of the firm's clients as best I can, and make my bosses look good by typing everything exactly the way it was supposed to be. Knowing the correct format, the grammar and punctuation, etc. And of course meeting the needs of my husband.
Now that I'm retired/disabled, I have to redefine my purpose. I have some projects of varying degrees of importance. Right now my main focus in relation to Religion & Spirituality is work on the separation of church & state in the context of my membership in the Ethical Society of St. Louis. I consider the First Amendment to the Constitution of critical importance, and I want to defend it.
