Funny.
I think some people say JW for simplicity or so they don't have to try to spell it out. I have noticed that some on here seem to misspell it so those who search for Jehovah's Witnesses won't find it. Sad but appearantly true.
Or it could be spell check is against the person's beliefs:D
I have seen way off spellings on here before. Probably the reason varies from person to person. I know some on here simply spell it Jehovas.
I, while not finding it offensive, personally prefer not to use JW, seems silly to me. Also I know some people use JW to mean Just Wondering, or other things. Seems clearer to spell things out.

Well said.
--------------
Man With the Plan - That's all very interesting, and repeatedly regurgitated, but it doesn't answer the question.
--------------
No 1 Home - I don't think Jehovah's Witnesses use God's name in vain or trivialise it in anyway as some suggest. The Tetragrammaton, from which Jehovah is translated, occurs 6,828 times in the Hebrew text printed in Biblia Hebraica and Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia. Was Jehovah using his name in vain when he inspired the writers of the Bible to use it so many times? Does this not show that he wants people to use His name?
Respectfully, what you say about them using power words and creating a different God is your opinion. Surely Jehovah's Witnesses would have created a God that does not require to be witnessed about, meaning they wouldn't have to speak to complete strangers about the Bible and enabling them to free-up ther spare time.
I think it is good that you take time to discuss scriptures with them as that happens less and less these days. Jehovah's Witnesses, out of love for neighbour, come round my area 3 or 4 times a year. I appreciate that other faiths have missionaries, but they do not come to my door to tell me the truths that they have.
If Jehovah's Witnesses are part of false religion, would the true religion not be able to do more than Jehovah's Witnesses in preaching the good news of God's Kingdom since God would be blessing their efforts?

Jehovah God Resurrected Jesus
Acts 2:24, Gal 1:1
Jehovah God using his power raised Jesus.
Rom 1:4 & 8:11
Three days after his death Jesus returned to Earth.
John 2:19 & 21
According to John 1:18 no one has ever seen any part of the Trinity so Jesus simply can not be God.
Therefor according to "Schneb" Jehovah's Witnesses or JWs is correct.

I reckon people always talk about Jehovah's Witnesses because they are always appearing out from nowhere, landing on your doorstep almost as often as the postman. Seriously though, I personally know some Jehovah's Witnesses, one or two being close relatives of mine. Although I am afraid to say, that as much as i love and care for these people, they still annoy me with their bible bashing. Maybe if J.W.s relaxed a bit about their faith and respected other peoples own beliefs they would actually get a good word spoken on their behalf. Well, just a suggestion. Live and let live, eh?

I was one of Jehovahs witnesses for 19 years, changed my whole life for it, I had alot of things happen to me in those 19 years that made me doubt this "true religion", mainly my husband led a double life while preaching religion to my family, I'm sure that they all have their skeletons in the closet, as for mine he was controlling and just as worse as any other person in the world. So am I keen on the religion, I believe some parts of it, other parts are to be questioned. As for being called a JW, it never really bothered me.

Jehovah's Witnesses could care less what you call us as long as you aren't disrespecting us.
A good way to keep us from coming to your house to is to ask us to never come again. We are supposed to respect that.
We try to respect others. I have heard though that we can get a little zealous in debating our points. I haven't got to the door to door part though. I may never make it that far.

It doesn't bother me.
It's just abbreviating, here in cyberspace.
I personally use J's W's.
But, BTW the full & proper name is:
"The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnessess,"
but!, I ain't gonna start typing out; "The C.C. of J's W's,"
I don't know...now that I see it.
JW
JW's
J's W's
we the users here recognize what it is.
thx, though.

With respect, more important than what we're called are the rampant misconceptions about us by folks who don't have all the facts.
For the record, I don't mind JW. Abbreviations are a fact of internet life. :)

FireyFairy, I will make a correction. You should say "sheesh" and not "geez". The latter is using Jesus name as a insult. I learned that from a Jewish person here in R&S . Thank you.

No way man. I'm not typing out JWs full name every time I talk about them. Geez, there are so many more things to get offended by and you're picking that?
